How’s the legal challenge to California’s Prop 8 going? Has the Supreme Court of California set a date for arguments yet? Are any counties still issuing marriage licences to same-sex couples? Attorney-General Jerry Brown is required by law to argue in favor of it being valid, right? What parts of the California Constitution require a “revision” as opposed to an “amendment” to change?
An amendment is when one part of the Constitution is changed. A revision is when large portions of the Constitution are changed. The last revision took place in 1974, as part of an attempt to simplify the Constitution…something like 40,000 words were removed.
