How's This For A MMP?

I made it through work and got home to a nice, quiet house. Well, as quiet as it can be with two dogs here.

My husband is on the other side of the state visiting my son for Dad’s weekend. He made it there late this afternoon. I’m sure they’re going to have a blast together.

Thanks for the good thoughts concerning my Dad. He does not have dementia. He suffered a stroke in September, and has been hospitalized or in hospice since then. Additionally, they found a type of small cell cancer in his lung and it’s pushing up against his heart. We found this out about two or three weeks ago. He was given three to six months to live.

We now fear the cancer has either spread to his liver and/or brain. Tests were run on Monday but were inconclusive. He was hospitalized again last night and he’s in the process of getting an MRI right now. We probably won’t have results until Monday at the earliest.

With all that being said, who’s to say some sort of dementia isn’t creeping in now too? I don’t know. I’m not a doctor and don’t play one on TV.

I really should make use of the time I have here at the house to do some serious chores, but I really don’t want to. I’m just plain tired. I walked in the house from work and grabbed a bucket with the idea of washing my kitchen floor and then promptly abandoned that idea. I think I’ll just kick back and enjoy the peace and quiet. I may even go to bed early tonight. I won’t have to listen to my husband snoring and I’ll have my nice new bed all to myself!

Dammit, Taters, my thoughts for whatever they are worth.

I hadn’t thought of Yiddish reading left to right, but it is considered by some scholars to be a dialect of German (vehemently denied by Mrs. Plant v.2.0) so I guess it would.

I’m always geeky about things, but I don’t feel funny after all the bad news on the board.

I made shrinky dinks tonight! It was totally cool. The only thing is that I almost burned them because the directions said three minutes and it really only took about one.

UPDATE.
So I have a friend who is looking to get a cat for her family. She lives close to me and I know her family. They are great and there are a bunch of kids to help take care of him. I facebook messaged her about the kitten and I hope she gets back to me soon.

I am thinking I shouldn’t get caught up in the euphoria of getting a new kitteh and realize the responsibility that would be with having a new baby in June. I think it would be more responsible of me to try and place him in a good home.

Though I can’t deny I am disappointed I don’t have a better situation which would allow me to take him in without hesitation.

At this point, I suspect tradition and inertia. Besides, penguins are cute.

Pretty inert day over here, but I think I’m nearly over the cold. Must get rear end in gear next week for seeking gainful employment. Tomorrow’s planned as movie-watching-and-vegetating day, church planned for Sunday (congregations being reshuffled has my services at a new time and building, which at least removes one of DH’s excuses for not attending).

The cat apparently has strong opinions on indoor temperatures. I had the windows open to get some fresher air through the place, and when it got below 70F, she went under the covers.

I vote for stroganoff. Spaghetti’s good, stroganoff’s better.

Ditto on the stroganoff.
And ditto on the hugs for {{Taters}} I hope you take what time you can for yourself this weekend. The floors will just be dirty tomorrow if you clean them tonight anyway; the doggies will make sure of that

Irked, came home. Eating. i have a mechanical penguin with a Santa hat.

{{{{sari}}}}

{{{{{Taters}}}}}. Wish I was a couple of thousand miles closer. I’d clean your house for you.

Sticks, you don’t like mushrooms?:dubious:

Flytrap, over the years, my Nativity scenes at work have included dinosaurs, army men, whales, and a sneak of ninjas*.

*that sounds like a good name for a group of ninjas.

Perfect!

Well it turned out to be posole (Mexican pork and hominy soup) for dinner. Cooking has been pushed back a day and so the mushrooms may be a moot point by then. Mushrooms are delish say my taste buds, but I know plenty of folks say they taste like dirt. Maybe they’re like Brussels sprouts and the flavor varies depending on the person.

Christmas penguins are special north pole penguins just like Santa’s special flying reindeer
Honest. Santa told me himself when I visited him last. Really!

I just wanted to say that that sounds just amazingly tasty.

Waiter!
I’ll have what he is drinking.

Posole!! /dances

Ahem. Sorry. I love posole  Made a batch yesterday; I do this at least once or twice a month, and then I eat it all week. My favorite breakfast, even.

It was actually very, very tasty. I make big coffees, and have big coffee mugs, so I couldn’t quite finish it. But yeah, it was very good. Will do it again! Especially since I need to use up the pantry; those bottles have been in the household for at least 3-4 years each. I’m surprised there’s any booze left in them!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN Yes I know it’s Sattidy but I’m up anyways. Maybe I’ll go back to bed in a while. Or not. I’m all willy-nilly like that. 'Tis 38 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 75. Good weather for a fish fry!

Did I mention that we did indeed collect enough money to pay off the mortgage on the church house? So, tonight, we shall symbolically burn the mortgage and have s’mores for dessert. Hey, ya gots a bon fire, ya makes s’mores, right?

'Shrooms are teh nummy. [del]Fart Blossoms[/del] Brussels Sprouts are Satan’s veggie. 'Nuff said.

{{{Taters}}} I join the pile on of just enjoy yourself in your weekend fortress of solitude. You’ve had it rough between irk and what’s goin’ on with your dad, so you deserve it.

Apes so cat or no cat? If you have found him a good home, then great!

And now this…

I’m up. caffeinated, off to irk. I am also downwind of a dog fart.

Happy Birthday, GT!!! :)
I’m up about 30 minutes before my alarm this morning which isn’t too bad. I’ll get ready soon and head out to my show. It’s one of my favorite shows of the year. This time last year I managed to baptize my cellphone in the toilet. I remember this because I told D and he was, of course, making fun of me for it. My cellphone worked for a couple of months after that, but was never the same so I ended up getting a new one. May the baptismal trend not continue!

Have a great day, Mumpers!

doggio who knew pole dancers had early shifts! :stuck_out_tongue:

StickyBuns good luck and have fun at the show. Do not baptize your cellphone today.

Yiddish, like Hebrew, is read right to left. It is a mix of German, Hebrew, and several Eastern European languages.

You really ought to know that, Good Jew that you are
