I think we’re in agreement here - I didn’t mean that Soul Force One was destroyed, just that it was weakened and robbed of powers until it recovered.
His soul wasn’t weakened at all. All seven parts of his soul were safe and sound in their respective horcruxes, not in his body, at the time of his body’s death.
There were eight parts to his soul.
I figger it’s one of those things you’re not supposed to look at too closely (ETA: Wand ownership). During the movie a few things occurred to me:
- This ain’t no kiddie flick
- I’m impressed with the sheer number of unique things JKR has managed to come up with in this amazingly derivative entertainment industry. Are there major themes borrowed or previously seen? Sure. But where did you see Horcruxes, Butterbeer, Snitches, Portkeys, Owls, House Elves, etc, etc, etc…
Six parts of his soul were in horcruxes. The seventh resided in his body until he was killed, at which point it became less than the meanest ghost, but still alive.
Edit: Wait, I forgot that he he tried to kill Harry, he inadvertently split his soul again and made Harry into a horcrux. But he also hadn’t made Nagini into a horcrux at that time.
the piece that was in riddle’s body waited around in albania until he could find someone to help him conjure up a body.
pettigrew found him, they came up with the icky form thing in goblet of fire until bone, skin, and blood from his chosen “donors” could be rounded up.
what he did not know was that between book 1 and 3 his diary was killed. once he found out (that must have been fun) he added nagini to his horcux stash. he also didn’t know that harry was an accidential horcux.
it seems he was so far down the path that he couldn’t feel his soul any more. he thought that he didn’t know or feel the diary die because he was in a weakened unbodied state.
however when dumbledore and ron killed the ring and locket he didn’t know. the bank heist tipped him off to the horcrux hunt.
by book 7 he had ripped his soul into 8 pieces, 1. new improved riddle body, 2. dead diary, 3. dead ring, 4. locket, 5. tiara, 6. cup, 7. harry, 8. nagini.
Presumably, if it wouldn’t work well due to standard wand rules, I’m sure Voldemort would know about that.
It wouldn’t end well. But I don’t know if the wand knows that. Or what it knows.
ollivandor told riddle that he would be able to use any wand against harry’s. so riddle took malfoy’s.
ollivandor was just as mystified as anyone when harry’s wand broke the one riddle was using. so riddle goes hunting for the eldar wand.
we have to wait for dumbledore to explain why harry’s wand done did what it did.
I don’t believe so.
Yes there are. 7 horcruxes and the part he kept. Diary, ring, locket, cup, diadem, Nagini, Harry and the part that remained as Voldemort.
