HTML Coding on SDMB

I checked for old threads that would explain this but I couldn’t find something that would help me.

I tried to do “small” in another post and put it with the around it but it didn’t work, the words just showed up with the brackets instead of actually doing the function.

Also, how do I put a link in where the name of it shows and not the address? Like instead of seeing “http://www…” you just see the words “happy cats” (or whatever) and it’s a link.

I hope I’m being a clear!

First of all, you’re referring to vB code, not html. The proper syntax to make text smaller is

 text

. The syntax for urls is

 [what you want shown here](http://www.whatever.com)

.

Wow, my post didn’t turn out the way I thought it would. You’ll have to click on quote and read it from there.

…Or just read my version.

(((GRRRFF!!!))) you and your fancy-smancy vB skills

Thank you very much!

Just going to try something…

if this doesn’t come out small, I not happy

and this

sniff sniff

Another way to get small font is to use the vB code , after replacing the < > brackets with 's. Although, this also bumps the writing down a line, [sub]like this[/sub].

Also, if you’re ever curious as to what vB coding a poster used here, just click on the “quote” button, and you’ll be able to see how they did it.

Sorry about that…Mr. Urt already mentioned something about doing this earlier. I must have scrolled right past it.

Off to ATMB.

Please tell me this has made Wierd Earls. If not it should.

Moe, I never would have clicked on it if you hadn’t said something. I figured it’d be just a mundane link to the Forum Homes or something like that. Thanks. And I second the nomination for Weird Earl’s.
