Hugh Laurie and MI-5

So there’s this British TV show called MI-5 that’s a few years old. MI-5 is the branch of the government intelligence agency charged with internal security. So it is a spy show, set in Britain and dealing with things like terrorism, industrial espionage, and criminal organizations.

Anyway, I was watching episodes the other night, and they had the head of the branch go talk to the head of MI-6, the external spy organization. So there’s this officious, obnoxious, snooty Brit making snarky comments about one of the main characters of the show. And it’s Hugh Laurie. So he’s practically Dr. House, except with a British accent and no cane.

Carry on.

I believe he’s on two episodes as Jools, the pretty bastardly guy on Spooks.

He also plays a snarky, bitter guy in Sense and Sensibility, although his Mr. Palmer is far more taciturn (and reveals more kindness to the Dashwood girls) than either House or Jools.

Hugh Laurie as Tony, and Stephen Fry as “Control”.
