- I find the choices of engines to be immediately suspect; a [dependable] piston engine that weighs 100 lbs and delivers 100 hp is rare, but a turbine that weighs 100 lbs and delivers 500 hp is no big deal. Turbine engines can be made much lighter and (still) more powerful than any variation of piston engine can. Turbines are not cheap though, and that would blow a big hole in Moller’s concept of the “everyman’s flying machine”. I seem to recall that the mini jet engines used for cruise missiles cost about $550,000 new, each. A few years back there was an aircraft broker selling rejected/refurbished ones for about half that price. - MC
