Humor in the Bible

In a column on the ark of the covenant, there was made mention of a joke, which was then left out of the bit about Biblical humor. It concerns the enemy capturing the Ark, and then the whacky sitcomesque hijinks that ensued when their statue of Dagon kept falling over. Ha ha. That crazy Moses.

I think this is the Biblical humor column and this is the Ark of the Covenant one.

An earlier thread on this subject.

heck yeah there’s humor in the bible - albeit juvenile toilet humor aimed at the typical young male (the worst kind of sinners, I’m told) In the bible version called “The Book”, 1 Kings 18 tells a story of a contest that Elijah, a prophet of god, engages in with Queen Jezebel’s prophets of Baal(trying to get a sacrifice fire lit by supernatural intervention). After much dancing, chanting and drawing blood from flagellation(…mmmm)by the Baal prophets, Elijah scoffs: “You’ll have to shout louder than that to catch the attention of your god! Perhaps he is talking to someone, or is out sitting on the toilet…”
