Today I didn’t eat all day. Around 7 pm, as I was waiting for my boyfriend to be ready to take me out to dinner, I started feeling woozy, dizzy, shaky and got a splitting headache. My stomach was hurting. This is what usually happens if I don’t eat after 10+ hours.
My question to you, Scylla, did you have these effects and how did you get past them? Do these symptoms subside?
That happens to me, too. Sometimes longer, sometimes shorter. The thing is after I feel those symptoms, I don’t even want to eat, even though my body needs food. I feel all nauseous and gross, even though I should eat. And then even after I nap or eat, the symptoms often last for a while. It’s awful!
I’m exactly the opposite. I get ravenous when my blood sugar drops, even if I’ve reached the queasy, shaky stage. I find it hard to STOP eating after that, and I end up feeling horrible about 30-45 minutes later.
Please don’t take this as a judgment on you and whatever you’re doing this for, but that’s pretty much how most anorexics feel, at least for a while. Once they get over the starvation ‘hump,’ it’s like they’re walking on air. There’s a druggy, smug air to them, like they know a secret. Then comes the hair and teeth loss, inability to climb stairs, heart attacks, etc.
Propel does have calories - 10 per bottle. I don’t think you’re cheating at all, mind you, but I was a dedicated calorie counter there for a while (trying to lose weight), so I check labels. 10 bigguns.
And if you’re not full, just take a big ole deep breath. All the nutrition you need indeedy.
We had a meeting this morning, and they brought Dunkin Donuts. I didn’t partake.
After the meeting I went to work at my desk, and a while later I got up to go to the bathroom. I passed the breakroom and saw the donuts. Without thinking about it, I snarfed down two of them in about four seconds. On the way back from the bathroom I snarfed down two more.
An hour later I went out for lunch.
So much for my iron will. I never actually made the decision to eat all those donuts, it just kind of happened by accident when I wasn’t paying attention.
