Hope thats not been used before.
Has your bedtime changed?
I used to stay up past midnight.
Now, 10 o’clock works best.
Sometimes I actually stay in bed all night. I turn but not getting out of bed.
Back to sleep for now…
First! I like this time zone! Though I’m only awake because our classes start today. My roommate’s phone alarm is loud.
Just got home from work. Trying to convince myself to eat something, but really, I just wanna drink a buttload of cold water and go the frig to bed.
Nice job on the title @SuntanLotion well played.
@JaneDoe42 this one’s for you ..
Welcome to this time zone. Good luck with the time change.
From last week’s MMP:
I’m curious. I think my husband wouldn’t like it, but something that uses tahini would give me another excuse to buy some. And I might be weird and substitute raisins or some other dried fruit for the chocoate chips.
I try to go to bed at the same time, +/- one hour. This is better for my sleep patterns, and also for my husband. When I was little, I never wanted to go to bed because I thought I was missing out. Now that the days are shorter, I’ll set up the evening light. It turns on when it’s dark, and turns off at the time we should get going towards bed. It helps to have a visual reminder - audible reminders for the evening disturb the peace.
Hubby and I did our voting yesterday, and today I’ll put our ballots in the mail. I thought I had the right stamp, but nope. I already ordered stamps online (no postage costs ), but I want to mail our ballots today, so I’ll go to the post office and get rid of some change. Need to go walk anyway.
Yesterday I joined the back pain club, so I didn’t sleep so well last night. Most of the exercises that are good for tight glutes are off limits, except walking.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Packers stumbled to a 40-40 tie in Sunday Night Handegg.
If it has, you can pick a sub-stitute.
Only during Peak Season.
Do all three.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/49f with a predicted high of 15c/58f and cloudy. Weather app has little to say besides “Fucking loitering clouds.” The forecast is for an overcast day which explains why it’s bright and shiny out there.
I have two days off work and very few plans to fil them. There are lots of things I could do, and a couple of things that I must do. So today will definitely involve grocery shopping but I don’t need to do that until later this morning. I also need to go and see Di at Little Paws as she’s got some food for the cats that came from a Pets at Home pallet over the weekend. I need to talk to her about Muffin too, poor little girl’s limping on one of her front legs. I suspect it’s a sprain/strain rather than anything else, she’s hobbling around with her paw off the ground although it’s not obviously swollen so no signs of infection/abcess there. If she needs a vet, Di has to make the appointment and tell me which of the vets to take her to as Little Paws has accounts with various local practices.
‘im indoors has gone off to Bristol again so won’t see him until Thursday evening, when we’ll be rushing around to get ourselves home, fed and out of the house again to go and see a couple of bands at the same venue we were at over the weekend. Much excitement!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 83 and cloudy with a chance of light rain later this afternoon. We will go through the master bedroom closet this mornin’ and neaten it up as it’s become unruly again. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS inactivities as is our wont. Sup will be my world renowned Eyetalian chikin, peas ‘n carrots, a broccoli/cheese rice thing from a box (don’t judge!), and rolls. Borin’ but tasty.
Coppertone thanks for startin’ us off! That’s a great title. I go to bed between nine and ten usually. I tend to wake up anywhere from five to seven in the mornin’. I also nap for about a hour or so everyday. OYKW goes to bed earlier, usually by eight, and wakes up between seven and eight, but has been known to sleep until around nine. He also naps durin’ the day. The man can sleep!
BooFae happy doperversary! Enjoy your days off.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Moanday Y’all!
How does a closet become unruly? Do you open the door and fling stuff in willy-nilly? I’ll admit the floor of my closet can be a tad untidy on occasion - like now when I have 3 unused purses down there. They really need to go to the thrift store. Otherwise, it’s put clothes on hangers, take clothes off hangers…
For many, many years, from childhood thru most of my working years (not counting when I was on mid-shift) I considered 9 to bedtime. That was especially important when I was getting up at 5 to go to work.
My inlaws rarely went to bed before 11, and FIL would occasionally call FCD after 9 - back in the days of bedside landlines phones. As you might imagine, I wasn’t all that thrilled at being awakened. I got FCD to tell his dad that unless he was on fire, PLEASE don’t call after 9. It became a running joke, but he stopped waking me.
Since retirement, bedtime has been all over the place. I’ve crashed as early as 8 and as late as 1 or so. In general, I head back around 10 and read till I find I’ve re-read the same paragraph half a dozen times. I no longer have a sleep cycle. Bedtime and the number of hours I spend there varies from night to night. Sometimes it’s too much caffeine, sometimes my brain is on overdrive, sometimes there’s no apparent reason. But it mostly doesn’t matter - RDOS, yanno…
Today will be work on the boat day, but I’ll be heading to the marina later. My first stop will be at the convenience center with trash and recycling, and they don’t open till 9:30 for some reason. I’ll futz around the house till then. We might get some rain later, hence taking the trash earlier.
Thus beginneth my week. Happy Moanday!!
I was once a night owl and could function on just three or four hours of sleep. Those days are long gone and I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t in bed by ten pm.
Good morning all. Bladder alert had me awake by 6:40am this morning so up and ready to start the week. Should be a fairly quiet one, not much doing on the weekly agenda (I know, famous last words…) and the weather is predicted to be in the Mid-80’sF during the day and down to about 60F at night with little chance of rain. I’m planning to revise my exercise schedule, instead of trying to pile up the calorie burn, I’ll exercise 400 calories as usual, do weight training (which I have been neglecting) and then do another 400 calories on the treadmill/bikes. We’ll see how that does for weight balance and general health. Might get up to 1,000 calories/day but we’ll see how it goes.
As for sleep, for most of my working life I was up about 5am and usually in bed before 10pm. Since I retired, bedtime has been between 10:30pm and midnight and wakey-wakey from 6:30-8:00am, depending on tiredness and my kidneys singing the sone of their people. I can manage happily on 6 hours sleep, but prefer 7-8.
Coppertone, if I wanted to be pedantic, I could point out it’s still September, but it will be October during this MMP and that is a wonderful title that deserved to be used. My own favorite fractured movie title is "did you hear that Bruce Willis was originally going to be in a “Lord of the Rings” movie? It was to be called Old Hobbits Die Hard
shoe, hope you did eat something.
doggio, stayed up to watch the end of that game, apparently defense had the night off.
Boo fae, enjoy your days of leisure. Hope Muffin heals up soon.
swampy, my closets are (mostly) ruly, but still need to take the kitchen in-hand and give it a good go-over.
FCM, Happy Futzing!!
Hippie, never was good on short rations of sleep, less than six hours and I am looking for nappage.
And that’s it for the morning report at Casa rat. Need to check the web comics and stuff and then head out to my usual Moanday shop-n-sammich. Have a good week all.
What a party animal! I’m usually turning out the lights by nine or shortly thereafter, then sleep for about nine or ten hours (with breaks to appease the bladder gods). I’m up at about 0700 every day, but not because I have a job. I just like an hour of quiet time before doing nothing all day.
The niece comes by today. We’ll likely go out for lunch. Sadie is fed and played with, although there is never enough play time for her liking. I think a bagel and a side of scramble for today’s fast breaking.
I hope you’re suitably ashamed of this!!
FCD decided he didn’t need my help today. I’ve got the truck loaded for the trash/recycle run and the center opens in about 45 minutes. I may run to Food Lion afterwards, or maybe not. We’ll see.
The battery for my mini chainsaw is charging. A rather large branch fell during the weekend storms and I need to cut it up and (assuming it’s good wood) take it to the woodpile. If it’s rotted, I’ll just fling the pieces in among the trees out front. There’s also a small dead evergreen of some sort that’s overdue to be dropped - I’ll see if my little saw can handle it.
A hunk o’ chicken is on the counter thawing - it’ll become something for supper - not sure what, but something. I’ve got time to figure something out. So some of my hours are now potentially filled. I also need to see how well the kidlets cleaned up their toys in the basement. I know there’s bits of wood from the branches Trevor brought in to chew on. That chore can wait till later should it decide to rain. That way, I can get the lumberjackin’ done early.
Hope this doesn’t cost me my RDOS credentials…
I follow the circadian rhythm I and my sister inherited from my mom. I wake up at 2 a.m. because I have to pee, and then I can never get back to sleep. I give up and surf the net until 4:30 or so, then get up. This leads to me running out of gas at about 3 in the afternoon, so I’m no good for anything other than youtube videos until I’m fighting sleep - about 7 p.m. Then I go to bed and read until maybe 8:30 or 9, and go to sleep.
I recently complained to my doctor about this, and she gave me a prescription for Trazadol. I have the bottle of pills, but I haven’t taken any. When I looked at side effects, one of them was panic attacks. I’ve had two of those bastards, and I won’t do anything to risk getting any more. So it’s back to my screwed-up bedtime and insomnia. But as pointed out, I’m a RDOS, so what does it matter.
Does melatonin work for you? I find it’ll give me a good 8-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep most of the time. I don’t take it regularly - just when I need a little help falling asleep. Apparently long-term effects haven’t been studied, but low doses for a month or 2 seem to be safe. I find it takes the edge off when I’m too tired to fall asleep (if that makes sense.) Then again, it doesn’t seem to affect everyone the same way.
Anyway, just a thought.
The chainsaw battery is charged - I think I’ll try a little cutting before I head to the center…
Instead of chillage, I cut up the fallen branches - good wood, so the logs are stacked on the pile. Then I cut down the dead tree - it was bigger than I thought, but I’ve watched FCD down enough trees that I knew how to do it - cut a wedge on the side where you wanted it to fall, then cut straight on the opposite side. It took a little push, then TIMBERRRRRR!!! Go me!!
By the time I finished that, the center was open, and this time, I remembered to take the batteries and the electronics. I think I’ve earned some chill time before attacking whatever awaits in the basement.
Well… Happy Monday.
Our FTP server is moving to ShareFile. Fortunately, we only get 11 files that way. Two companies are set up, and have send files. Five companies have received a ‘welcome and how-to guide’. That leaves four. One bank says they’re busy, and can we push the move out an indefinite time. But that’s progress compared to…
SharePoint. We’ve moved everything to SharePoint. I logged in this morning and went to open a file from my G: drive from my Documents shortcut on my desktop. Nope. G: drive can’t be reached. I can get to locally-stored files on my computer, and I can get to the same by going to SharePoint online. But I can’t get to ‘my’ files – the ones on the public drive. OK, so let’s assume I can get to those files. My Easytrieve programs write to the now-gone public drive. I don’t know if it can write to SharePoint online. If it can’t then I’ll have to write the output to my desktop, and then manually upload them to SharePoint. Oh, I just love it when TPTB decide to break things that are working fine!
My mom used to be really bad about calling me at the butt crack of dawn when I irked evening shift. Generally, I had only been in bed for a couple of hours and it was aggravating.
Over the years, I’ve worked all kinds of bastard shifts, as well as working more than one job at times, so sleep was whenever I could get some and/or odd hours. Since medical leave morphing into retirement, I’ve kind of drifted into taking Nelson out ~ 9:45, in bed around 10 and reading until 11 or 12. I usually get up between 7 and 8. I think I’m getting more and better sleep than I have for years. My last working hours left me with about 4-5 hours a night during the work week and make up for lost time on the weekend. That’s no way to live.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Today will be getting the last of the hanging stuff on walls done, then dust. After that, RDOS.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
La Jefa sent a Teams message to everyone saying that she’d forwarded instructions to everyone on how to synch SharePoint. She said she can’t make them work. Everyone else who has replied (five, so far – our office has maybe a dozen people) said they can’t make the instructions work either.
Monday morning, already. I’m here at my confuser, trying to think of something Octoberish to say. Mrs. Nott’s birthday is soon. I promise not to eat any octopi, octopodes, nor octopuses. I covered my bases in that debate.
The sun is streaming in, into my eyes, so I looked around for my office hat. I didn’t find it, had to make do with a different one. Gr. (Just one r, mildly irritated.)
