Any bets on how long that’s going to stay active?
Hopefully long enough for me to get home and start it again.
How far up the coast will the effects be felt, even if only in being a little bit windier than usual? San Diego? Los Angeles? Anchorage?
Well, a guy just wiped rain off the screen. Thanks guy!
Send some rain LA’s way…
Some poor or crazy bastard just went trudging down the beach at the water line.
The wind has kicked up to where it’s tearing branches off the tree in the cam’s view. Someone’s still there, because the camera fell and a hand propped it back up and wiped the screen off again. God help him.
There’s somebody right there - I watched as the camera blew over - was down for about a minute when somebody picked it up and put it back where it was. That storm is vicious looking! And the worst is still to come! I can’t imagine what those guys at the beach are thinking while being there
Anybody else’s feed freeze, or just me.
Oh dear, not getting that webcam up.
me too
I got nothin’. Just the frozen logo. It was working about an hour ago.
Given the strength of the winds at the end I’d not be at all surprised if they just lost power in that area.
I would venture to guess that amongst the things that the wind picks up at 200mph+, some of those things will be people.
It was out for a few minutes, then came back, and now seems to be frozen again.
Did you see this photo from the ISS of the storm?
Below is the very prophetic message from the National Weather Service before Katrina hit. You don’t generally see government agencies be so blunt in their announcements but they were correct and a whole lot of people still didn’t flee. This storm is more powerful than Katrina. We are also talking about Mexico versus the U.S. I know the disaster response to Katrina was awful by almost any standard but much of Mexico has decidedly 3rd World infrastructure and government on a clear day. New Orleans got the press because the levees broke after Katrina had already passed by neighboring Southern Mississippi got destroyed but its acute effects just as well.
Here is an idea of what they are up against except worse. I hope Mexico had sense enough to start getting people out in the short time window that had:

Goggle has their Public Alert service with Hurricane Patricia added:
Direct link to interactive map, Patricia is just hitting Manzanillo with 201 MPH winds.
It will hit the city of Tequila on the north as a still a level 3 hurricane.
By early morning on Sunday it will reach Texas as very heavy Tropical Storm, the problem in Texas is that they are already suffering from mayor flooding incidents.
Hope that guy’s ok…but those didn’t look like very sturdy structures to me, and the waves were licking at the porch.
Can you even survive inside a sturdy building in those kind of winds? Seems to me as though all the air would get sucked out and you would suffocate.
