I agree. My boyfriend and I are almost polar opposites. We voted for different people in the last election and have different views on a lot of social issues.
However, our general outlook on life and our moral views when it comes to our own conduct (we disagree about if abortion should be legal but agree that we don’t believe in abortion for ourselves, for example) are quite compatible. Our personalities are actually quite similar. We often have ‘great minds think alike’ moments in daily life.
Most importantly, though, we respect each other and genuinely consider each other good people. Election night actually helped me come to the realization that I think he’s The One, because he was very caring and loving instead of getting obnoxious about the election results.
If you should be so lucky as to find someone with a good heart, who is faithful, caring, and fun to be with, it would be stupid to throw them away over a mere difference of opinion on topical issues that (mostly) won’t be relevant years from now.
