Ya, I’ve been a mute observer of this message board for nearly two years (thats called being a lurker, right?) and I finally built up the wherewithall to subscribe. Welcome, Exigency! FWIW, this was the first message board I ever joined, too! As for the initiation, well, it was different way back when in the days I joined. Why, when I was a new Doper, we would have been thrilled to have a goat! But it was the olden days, and we had to use a mastadon. . .
But the drugs they give you pretty much wipe out the mental trauma of the experience, y’know?
So, make yourself comfortable. You seem capable of using capitalization and punctuation, and composing a comprehensible sentence, so you should be just fine!

Well, I stumbled upon the Straight Dope back then when I was writing a research paper for school (a paper in favor of animal medical experimentation; ya, I didn’t have too many friends in that class after that) and I thought hey, a forum for the smart and cynical, where do I sign up? But then… 15 dollars… why, thats ramen for a good month, that is ! But now, Ima done with school and have a bit more time and income so yeah, here I be.
