Let me state right off I am a supporter of the non-bio origin of oil theory. Which basically is that oil is part of the makeup of the ‘soup’ that formed the solarsystem. Some supporting evidence has been found, inlcuding a hydrocarbon tar like substance in meteriors (cite below).
The orbiting probes we sent to look for water were only designed to detect Hydrogen, which they did, mainly at the poles and in crators. I’ve heard that this most likely means water (ice) or captured solar winds. Why is not oil like hydrocarbons even mentioned?
It would seem like oil would have a pattern like that of water. The sun would break it down into lighter compounds till it floats away, except where the sun don’t shine (too often).
