Hypercard, or What the Hell Happened to Apple?

Have any of you HyperCard nostalgics tried Flash? I’m trying to think if there’s anything that HyperCard could do that Flash can’t, and I’m having trouble coming up with any examples. The script language is different, but still quite easy to use. Other than that, the interface isn’t too different, and there’s an amazing amount of creative potential in Flash. Also, you can get the fully-functional trial version from Macromedia’s website, which will let you try it out, save, everything, for 30 days.

Also, Flash has a huge userbase on the web, as you may have guessed.

I dunno – from my anecdotal experience, it seems a lot of Linux and Windows users who had previously never even considered Macs are buying new Powerbooks, iBooks, and PowerMacs, primarily because of MacOS X.

The reliability of UNIX with the ability to run mainstream applications is proving to be a very strong draw. Check out Slashdot, Ars Technica, or O’Reilly Books for lots of former-non-Mac-user-switches-due-to-MacOSX folks – they’ll probably share their stories if you prod them a little.
