First off, let me confess my ignorance. I am a complete Dolt when it comes to these matters. I have cruised various web sites yet I haven’t gotten that warm cozy feeling that the SDMB can provide.
The wife has an iMac running OS/X 10.7.5 . I have a collection of CDs that I would like to rip on her IMac and transfer to play on my iPhone 5c running iOS 7.0.6 (and to a lesser extent, my Nexus 7 (2013) – running Andriod rev. 4.4.2 ). What software do I need to load on the iMac to accomplish this?
What step by step procedures?
Should I appeal to commercial software? If so, who?
I want to store the music on the iPhone 5c (maybe the Nexus (2013)), and pair the device to a Blue Tooth Speaker to play on my way to work in my 1999 Toyota Corolla CE. (Hey, it is a good runner.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Added bonus is if I can rip/mix and burn to a CD.
Again, I am a Dolt. Please do not flog me too hard. I honestly don’t know the best way to proceed without stumbling about.
If you want to burn CDs with new mixes from what you’ve brought in, you create playlists in iTunes. Click the “+” button to create a new playlist, name it, and then drag the tracks into it you want to burn to a CD (remembering the 80-minute limit). Then right-click on the playlist and select “Burn to CD.”
You’ll be prompted to insert a blank CD. Assuming your timing is right and there aren’t any other issues, the CD burn will commence shortly after this. Check the finished CD (it will be selected in the list once the burn has finished) by clicking on a couple of tracks to play…then eject and move on to the next playlist you want to burn.
When I use iTunes on my Windows computer, iTunes doesn’t recognize my Nexus. I am able to drag and drop music files from the iTunes music folders onto the Nexus though and they play just fine. I’d guess there is a similar way of doing that on an iMac.
For all its defects in the eyes of many, one has to remember that iTunes is, by design, what Apple wants you to use for this purpose with iPods and iPhones.
As was mentioned, a number of music-CD players will have trouble with reading CD-RW.
