My former employer, a local water utility let me go because I was having a hard time focusing on work. My wife had commited suiside in april of 2002 and left me with my then nine year old daughter. I don’t blame them.
THEN after three appeals to the unemployment bureau with judgments in my favour, THEY FILE A LETTER TO THE STATE SAYING THAT I FUCKING COMMITTED SABOTAGE ON THER WELLS AND PLACED 27,000 PEOPLE IN DANDER.
I have just got off the phone with the folks at FL. D.E.P. and the tampa bureau of the F.B.I. and they have NO record of this BECAUSE IT IS NOT A FUCKING FACT.
I should inform you all that ANY factual or percieved instance of tresspassing and or sabotoge MUST be reported to the federal authorities within 24 hrs. as per the homeland security act as of I believe april 2003. this letter was drafted 27 days after my discharge, september 9 2004
I know this is lame but I have been assured that the fucking dumbass who signed this letter is going to be facing a hefty fine .
Is this libel? or slander , being that it is a public document?

Sucks indeed. Call a lawyer. If you can’t afford a lawyer, the legal aid folks in your area can probably tell you fairly quickly whether you’ve got a solid case.
IANAL, but yes, you have most likely been officially “defamed”, or libeled.
Libel is the written act of slander. When someone publishes a document containing libelous statements about your character, you have been defamed.
Legal Aid societies might help you, depending on your income and employment situation as well as how much money they have in their coffers. If your local legal aid can’t help, you might just want to contact a personal injury lawyer who works on slander/libel and will work without a retainer and will recover his fees on contingency.
And I forgot for a moment that I have exposed my REAL SELF to the internet, please don’t drag my wife into this with any comments one way or the other about her death.
File a complaint to the EEOC. They will follow up on legitimate claims and will guide you through the remedy process, not to mention slapping fines on the employer.
Jeff, I don’t see any reason why anyone would take any shots at your wife. In fact, most Dopers are compassionate and emotional individuals that that these life experiences and the experiences of others seriously.

Half of my problem was two statements made by my former employer.
“I don’t have anyting nice to say about someone who does that” and
2 after opening up to tell the guy that my daughter is having a hard time dealing with it he say’s “sounds like it’s time for her to get over it”

Give the fuckers what-for. There ARE terrorists in the world, but you’re not one of them… all the stupid accusations of terrorism just take away from the real efforts that actually do help things. In short, by accusing you, an innocent dude, they’ve contributed to putting everyone in danger.
I’d agree with everyone else here in recommending that you get a lawyer, and I’d also reccomend that, while this whole thing is going on, you not post any more information about the situation here or on any other board or in any livejournal or anything like that that you have.
Captain Amazing has a good point. You might want to e-mail an admin to get this thread locked and/or deleted, pending future legal proceedings.
As for people coming into disrespect your wife, well… even here, it might happen. This board is open to everyone, even assholes. But I can absolutely guarantee you that if anyone did post such a thing, the resulting pitting would run to five pages, spawn several inventive new board catch-phrases, and probably lead to at least one banning.
