I am a house plan enthusiast.

I am a house plant enthusiast. Last night some kids in orange shirts broke my window and stole my Wandering Jew.

I was wondering what a house plan enthusiast was. I was imagining a forum where people get into heated debates about open-floor plans vs rooms with walls.

Which I’m sure there is somewhere on this interweb.

As a former architecture student and house designer, I am disappointed that this is not about plans.

:frowning:

Me, too. I misread the thread title and got soooo excited.

I love house plans.

I am, too. I enjoy looking at plans and seeing what I like and what I’d change.

We did not misread the title. It says house plan.

Which became even more confusing when I learned there was a lost Israelite kidnapped.
mmm

He has the plans! Now they’re missing along with him!

I look at old Victorian plans and try to find a place for a modern bathroom and hot tub.

Another house plan enthusiast and former architecture student here. Actually, former wandering Jew as well.

I was just going to mention that my wife’s favorite part of the Sims is making houses. She can do that crap for hours.

As far as plants… whatever. I like flowers more. My wife can do amazing things with plants too. I’ve seen her bring more than one back to life.

Count me disappointed also, I’ve long been looking for someone to talk house plans with. There are forums for discussing commercial architecture but I’ve never found one for residential. I don’t have any expertise, just opinions. Here are a few:

After living in a split level home for a little while, I’m not a fan of them in terms of the floor plan. They’re very unwelcoming to guests. The instant you step in the door you have to decide whether to go upstairs or downstairs. Generally in middle-class homes also, the front entry landing is teensy, so the person who invited you in practically has to stand on the stairs to give you room to enter.

And then there are these monstrositiesin a nearby neighborhood. The exterior front entry is just so unwelcoming and tedious. Who wants to stumble up a flight of concrete stairs and stand in the rain to visit?

We have about 150 or so house plants tucked neatly into every window of our house. We may have to move shortly, which will be devastating if we don’t find a place with similar lighting space. But as of yet, we have no house plans.

(If it comes to that, is there an adopt-a-plant service?)

Disappointed here too. I’ve loved studying and drawing house plans since I was a kid.

Since we are hijacking the thread, here are some old plans.

When you find it let me know.
I want a hot tub.

Other kids played Wolfenstein and Quake and Doom. I played Home Design 3D.

I can spend hours on house plan websites cursing the idiots who want to put dining rooms on the other side of the house from the kitchen and who insist on angling walls because “it’s cool” thereby creating awkward spaces all over the dang house.

I have looked at thousands and have a few dozen in my saved file. I adore the plans but I’m very picky about what I like. There are some hidden gems in the piles of nonsense on those websites.

Have you house plan fans read McMansion Hell? Deliciously snarky send up of contemporary residential architecture. I adore it.

I am a serial plant killer. Anyone who stole a plant out of my house would be performing a rescue mission.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I’d like to be a house plan enthusiast. In theory you’d think I’d be good at it and into it, I’m just the right kind of nerd for that stuff. 3D CGI, maps, graphic design, etc. Except I’m not very good at home design or architecture, and it bores and frustrates me very quickly.

Has there ever been a thread hijacked so completely and with such enthusiasm?
