"I am a Morman"

Dunno if this has been brought up- the abundance of “I am a Morman” commercials lately. Are they prostheletizing or is it a conspiracy to make Mitt seem less unacceptable?

If someone says “I am a Morman,” I think they’re pretty confused.

Even Aquaman makes fun of Morman.

I am Morwoman. Hear me roar.

There have been articles about the timing of their new PR campaign.

Mormons want good publicity to go along with all the extra scrutiny they’re getting, and if that happens to help Mitt Romney, I’m sure they’ll be very happy.

…and a Mormon just believes.

Moved Cafe Society --> MPSIMS.

As an agnostic I think the “I’m a Morman” campaign is very compelling and well thought out. It intends to disperse the common misconception that they are a kooky, non-drinking, multiple wife-having fringe of society. I don’t personally find them any odder than any religion.

That having been said, I admit to cruelly inviting them into my home and asking “Can I fix you a drink?” While dumping vodka in a glass at 3 in the afternoon. I disagree with a lot of their stuff, obviously, but I’ve actually listened to some of their ideas and they’re not like, Jack Chick or something.

Plus, the Osmonds…Come on! You gotta love THAT!

Some will, some won’t. There are Mormons who aren’t Republicans; even some prominent Democrats.

It may interest you to know that this ad campaign is going on here in Australia, and there’s no election here. There’s billboards with really cute looking Mormons all over the place.

This ad campaign actually began over a year and a half ago. The Mormon church has been slowly rolling it out across the country since. So while I suppose it’s possible that they decided to help out Mitt Romney starting in mid-2010, the more likely explanation is proselytizing.

I am Morman, hear me rorman!

Whose Mitt when he at home?

Ever since that show Big Love and the Dad taking a piss in the kitchen sink I have always aspired to be a Mormon. But one wife is enough for me especially when the nagging starts…

Which part of Australia you from? I haven’t seen it, but then again I do walk around in a dream.

I think you misspelled Mer-man.

Hey, wait a minute. I thought the Hamburger Helper commercials were the only subliminal Romney propaganda :dubious:.

Brissy - There’s a billboard with a mormon who looks like Johnny Depp - that’s the one that caught my eye.

I’m west of Brissy, only billboards out here are for Four-Ex with out-dated prices on them.

Win.

IANAM

I think it was more a response to the FDLS (polygamous off-shoot of Mormanism) receiving so much publicity. There was a definite wish to get mainstream Mormans into the public eye in order to provide awareness of the difference.
