I Am America (and So Can You!)

What a stinker of a book. I am opening my Amazon boxes and this one caught my eye. “Something light,” I thought, “Something silly.” I want my money back.

Colbert is a comedian. I always presumed that means he is a writer. I was wrong. The volume of the volume is inflated with un-funny graphics, sidebars and other extranious material. I love his delusional pundit routine when I get a chance to see it, perhaps it does not work in print. In any case, this book is just about useless.

Grumble.

Damn, that sucks. I just popped it on to my Wish List as something fun, and I betcha my brother got it for me. sigh

I thought parts of it were funny, though it’s not as good as Stewart’s book IMO.

Heh, I thought it was quite funny, and written totally in character, natch.

I loved it and thought it was hilarious. It does have a style to it that might not appeal to everyone.

I listened to the audio book version on my commute, and it made me laugh.

I thought it was hilarious. I laughed out loud at a few bits, even.

I’m about 1/2 way through it now, and I think it’s very funny.

It’s good but not great. Definitely not as good as America: The Book, but an entertaining read nonetheless.

Imho, obviously.

I found the abridged audio book to be rather funny. I don’t see how it would work as a book, though.

Well, duh! What could possibly compare to an illustration of the Supreme Court Justices naked?

It definitely has its highs and lows. It reads best when I can imagine Colbert reading it. (But since I run hot and cold on his stuff anyway, it’s no surprise.)

He did record the audio book, didn’t he?

I think that is it. He writes to be performed, not to be read. I have given it a couple of more tries, and this book is just not as funny as seeing SC on TV.
