I am an LA girl to my marrow, and I cannot take much more...

When I am hunting in northern Wisconsin 10 or 15 degrees feels great to me. For some reason day time temps below 60 degrees along the So Cal coast are bone chilling. You can go the the mountains or high desert in sub freezing temps and feel just fine for some reason.

It is, to a point, what you are used to. Our bedroom stays at about a cozy 60f at night.

I use a push broom at 5:30 am to push the snow off the cars. It’s rarely above 10f and I don’t bother to wear gloves or a hat.

Fire up the cars.

Now, tomorrow, I will be on the tractor to push snow. I will dress up for that. I’ll be outside for a few hours.

Again, that anything that is less than -0f is considered cold is a bit alien to me.

Stay warm OP.

Its too late now, but if you have the drawer/storage space for them for next time? Stash an underarmor top and a pair of underarmor long-john leggings in your size next to where you keep that blanket.
Stored in plastic with the air squeezed out before sealing, they shouldn’t take up too much space.

Screw fashion: you’re Cold.

Just like dry heat is easier to take than humid, cold and humid feels much colder than dry cold.
Cold air can’t hold as much water as warmer air. So by defination, 0◦ F is much drier than 60○ F.

20,000’ is just above base camp, where the tourists go.

That’s the point.

Thread on that subject.

Congrats on the move! I went to school there and I love and miss SB. Eat at Kahuna Grill and get the onion rings.

If you ever go to Buelton there’s a place called Pattibakes that we got our wedding cake from. Delicious. We had our reception at Grappalos in Santa Ynez. They have great food.

You’re going to love January. We would usually have barbeques on the beach or go to the botanical garden.

It’s snowing in Boston as I type this.

But at least it’ll be turning to freezing rain, so we got that going for us.

HA! 70 is the temp I keep my house.

You guys haven’t experienced cold until you’ve felt your boogers freeze.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know enough from the eleven million books I’ve read about Everest that the push for the summit is made from Camp IV at about 26,000 feet. Nonetheless the native Barabareños are losing their minds in this weather.

It’s actually warmed up a little bit. Most of last week was in the upper 40’s, with sub-freezing temps at night. Some parts of the city actually got snow.

Oh, hush up. :stuck_out_tongue:

I flew into eastern Wisconsin in early June. Got into a cab. It was 55°F out. The cab driver was running the A/C. (Though, Wisconsin summers are pretty brutal, he was probably making sure it was in good working order.)

Or it’s so cold you can see your dog’s farts.

along with the worlds best hot water bottle, my blue pit Zusje. So if I want to live in my bed I’ll be fine.

I was going to mention that you should get a dog or five. They may great foot warmers.

It’s a bit past midnight here and 74°F outside - too warm. Anybody want to exchange about 10-15°F?

It’s easy to get used to nice winter weather. At one time I lived in Montreal. I experienced plenty of blizzards and bitterly cold temperatures. But now I’ve lived in California for almost 40 years. I don’t think I could go back to a cold climate.

I think most of inland SoCal is getting pretty cold these past few nights, “inland” define as perhaps fifteen of more miles away from the coast. Here in Escondido it’s been going down to the mid 20s, but it’s supposed to warm up a little. The days have been in the low 60s, usually clear.

I grew up in the midwest…I’ve been out walking when it was -20 so I know cold. I’m just not used to it anymore after a decade in LA.
