I am an LA girl to my marrow, and I cannot take much more...

It doesn’t matter what part of the country you live in. Anything under 70F is not fit for human existence.

Many of us would beg to differ with you. IMHO, anything over 80F is disgusting.
Vive la différence!

Thanks. I am exceptionally pleased to be here, although I will admit I miss my frequent noodle fix. There seems to be a shortage of good pho and ramen places.

Yesterday morning it was -6 with a wind chill of -24. I thought briefly about turning the heat on, but figured, nah, and put on another sweater. There’s an advantage to living on the top floor of a 2-flat with a basement apartment. Heat rises. Thank you downstairs neighbors! They’re from the Philippines and can’t stand the cold so they crank up their heat.

I do have a radiant space heater in the bathroom, and a heated throw that I turn on a few minutes before heading to bed so I don’t have to get into a cold bed. I have to turn it off before I get into bed or else I’ll get way too hot when my body heat takes over. The computer room stays fairly warm and that’s where the cat sleeps.

I love both LA and New York. I could live in either place. I love Chicago but it is a bit of a compromise, with all the big city stuff I love, but cheaper.

It’s 16 degrees now. Practically summer.

It was -5 degrees F last night here in St. Paul, Minnesota, and I went outside naked.

Twice.

This is the truth.

Also true: I spent all the time between my two bouts of nakedness in a 104 degree F hot tub …

It’s wicked tough to ski at temps above 60 or so.

You’re not going to be real happy with the Pho choices but try Saigon Noodle House in Goleta or Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant which has a couple of locations.

There is a new Ramen place on lower State called Sakura that I haven’t tried but I have heard good things.

So far, the winner for pho is Noodle City in Goleta. I’ll check out Sakura, thanks. Black Sheep has a pretty good ramen option, but it’s not a great drop-in place and isn’t open for lunch, I don’t think.

At least in fall/winter and part of spring I can crawl into bed and be extraordinarily comfortable. I hate sleeping during the summer.

Pussy. You haven’t lived until you’ve gone trick or treating in the snow.

(It’s 4 degrees here, -9 if you count the windchill.)

Total agreement. Sleeping in the heat is completely miserable.

Substitute “over” for “under” and you have my agreement.
