Would you have her follow your example? Is it possible to discuss this without seeing who can the most venomous in their diatribe about the venom of another, especially in a forum that supposed to be free of personal attacks?
Some people are pretty straight-forward with how they feel about folks, and others are snively little back biters.
Oh yeah, Zarc, I suppose it was completely absurd that I would in a discussion of someone making a nasty mean-spirited statement point out that this someone often makes nasty mean-spirited statements.
Was post #21 just a bit too subtle for you? Let’s try to discuss this without personal attacks that are better suited for The BBQ Pit.
Yes, if your outlook is that doing so is wrong in the first place, then responding in kind(and worse) would be absurd.
Reported for junior modding.
Anyway, picunurse, I wouldn’t stop reporting posts if I were you. If my tiny experiences mean anything to you, the moderators around here are generally pretty nice. There are, of course, exceptions.
I saw that one coming.
But it’s okay if it’s you?
This is way excessive, especially for ATMB.
Got a problem with a poster? Take it up in the Pit.
Got a problem with a moderator action? That’s for ATMB and civil comment is acceptable. Mod-bashing is not.
I couldn’t resist! It was just there! I will not be ashamed for taking the cheap and obvious joke. Plus comments defending her cannot be taken seriously, so there was nothing left to do but dismiss them with a (bad) joke.
Edit @ Tuba. Okay, I’ll lay off. Any future complaints will be made in private.
Pretty much my feelings also. Some people are just not cut out for forum moderation.
Not junior modding-just my personal opinion. Whatever.
A mistake was made, picunurse, and an apology without expectation of forgiveness was publicly made. What say you?
Quick!!! Circle the wagons!!!
This is just the tip of the shitberg. Wikileaks is planning to release years of secret mod correspondence, so we can see what they’ve been saying about ALL of us.
I’ve started the “Circle the wagons!” drum circle before, but that’s not the case here. twickster responded quickly and appropriately (and humbly), and other moderation has chimed in as well. Let’s try to remain calm.
Unless you are saying this tongue-in-cheek, I find comments like this to be nothing but cheap attacks. It’s “Your just circling the wagons” when the mods agree(which hasn’t even been done in this case-way to miss the target), and “You must be wrong because all the other mods aren’t coming to your defense” if they don’t immediately give their opinions. What kind of moderator response isn’t wrong in your eyes?
I agree in principle, but if the penalty for mod bashing runs into suspensions and bans, whats the penalty for customer bashing?
blind pig looking for acorns? I like it, did that come from the old timey sayings thread?
all in all, sloppy Mod use of the cc, best to stay away from the bcc as well…
I’ve been plenty critical of some of the moderation on this Board over the past couple of years, and in quite a few cases i’ve been specifically critical of twickster’s moderation.
But i’m going to agree with Czarcasm here: i’ve said shit about people in private communications that i probably wouldn’t have wanted them learning about, and this is just one of those occasions where the type of mean-spirited, small-minded stuff that we all succumb to from time to time just happened to find its way to the wrong person.
Also, let me ask a question: is anyone surprised by the fact that this happens? That is, did anyone really think that the mods and admins don’t talk like this about us in their private communications? I’ve had PM conversations with other Dopers about people i find annoying or infuriating on these Boards, and i’ll probably do it again.
That doesn’t mean that the incident should pass unremarked or unpunished. It may even be that twickster needs to fall on her sword because the exposure of this issue will undermine her as a mod. It’s sort of like when a politician gets caught on microphone calling one of his constituents or campaign contributors a douchebag; everyone knows that politicians probably do this all the time, but once you’ve hung your ass out for everyone to see, sometimes the only dignified thing to do is apologize and step down.
Yeah, for me the issue is important more as part of a pattern than in and of itself. As i said above, i’m sure mods talk crap about members quite often in their private communications, and this one incident isn’t the end of the world.
Doing so accidentally, or on purpose? I think a large percentage of us have said things about customers that we wouldn’t want to get out, but this is totally different from saying them directly to the customer, wouldn’t you say?
I agree with Czarcasm too. If I understand correctly and some mod deliberately sent a cc note to in effect snitch out Twickster, they are the real scumbag.
It depends on the customer. Some of them overhear things, and make a big enough stink about it that the management has no choice but to punish the indiscreet person.
