I’m pretty quiet around here. I’ve never had a warning or even a note from a mod.
I have reported threads when they seemed to be in the wrong forum. I don’t do it every day, or even every week.
I reported one yesterday. I received 2 e-mails about it from different mods. In one, I was actually cced a copy of twickster’s missive.
Here’s what she said about me: “picunurse is the blind pig looking for acorns. Rare are the occasions when she finds one.”
I won’t be reporting threads again.
If I knew which thread you thought was in the wrong forum, I might be appalled too.

What a revolting development this is.
Surely a blind pig would be better employed looking for truffles as acorns are just laying around on the surface.

There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for what I said. I do apologize, very sincerely, for a rude and absolutely inappropriate comment. Obviously I didn’t realize you were on the CC list for that, but even if you weren’t I shouldn’t have said it.
I am truly sorry and embarrassed to have written those words. The fact that I had had a bad day doesn’t give me license to make assholish comments about someone who is doing her best to help keep the SDMB a good place to be.
I hope – but don’t expect – that you will be able to forgive me.

No. Wrong reaction. The correct action is to report more threads. The last thing you want to do is allow someone to win who would make such a horrible comment.

It’s way too easy to imagine that this kind of mod-loop shit-talking goes on all the time and that this is just one example of that. Still, twickster is demonstrably a shit mod and she’s still around so I doubt this (I mean the exposure of it because I’m already reasonably certain that nobody in the administration will give a shit about twickster’s actions) will matter to anybody.

twickster’s nasty comment (and “apology”) says more about her than about you.
This seems to me to be sort of like those surprise “open mike” comments … she just didn’t know this thing was on!
Many of us*, in what we believe to be private conversations, say snarky nasty things about the rest of us** all the time. Sometimes there are points behind those assessments, oftentimes not, but we all live with the knowledge that some people out there think badly of each of us. Or we delude ourselves.
The worse form was the mod who cc’ed you, not the nastiness (even assuming, as is likely, its being completely without any possible justification) expressed in presumed privacy.
For the little it is worth, I’d vote for accepting the apology, recognizing that one mod thinks you report threads too often and without good enough cause, evaluating that thought for what it is or is not worth, and then continuing to do what you think is in your and the overall board’s best interest. (Now if a consensus of mods felt that way about you, then you’d need to take it more seriously … one mod, nah.)

What does it matter if a thread is in the wrong forum? It’s a judgement call and trivial.

Also FWIW, the comment comes off as nasty I think because of the word “pig” in it, but really that is a just a bit of an old timey saying akin to “…even the blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.” The point I do not think should be that she was calling you a pig, but that she thinks you report too often and often without cause. Maybe once every week or so is enough to put you in the more frequent reporter group and maybe those reports are off the mark more often than not … or not. I, of course, have no way to have any idea.* But one mode expressing that thought, be it accurate or way inaccurate, to other mods, as part of discussing a report you have made, does not seem all that appalling, nor any cause for you to change your behaviors.
On preview … if twickster did the cc herself then she deserves a big :smack:
*Personally I’ve reported less than a handful of posts in all my years here. Am I an unusually infrequent reporter? I don’t know that either.
Is anyone surprised? Twixie, or whatever the fuck her name is, is hate-filled and vile in her *public *moderation.
Who here has never said something about an individual you wouldn’t want getting back to them? If you have, what do you think the penalty should have been, even after you apologized?
Then I must be hogzilla. I probably report 5 or 6 threads every week, especially in GQ. Sometimes more. Most do get moved, I think.
For the record (because I’m sure someone is taking notes), twickster’s apology was spot-on. But it’s about the 100th time she’s had to make an apology in ATMB (I counted, and no, I won’t show you the math). I don’t know what the threshold should be, but that’s too many. twickster, please step down at TPTB’s earliest convenience.
