…Well okay I’m bringing a friend along but for the most part this is something I did entirely on my own. I’m going to a convention for a weekend (counts as my ‘vacation’ for summer) but the unique thing about this outing is that I planned it all out all by myself. I’ll admit, I made a few boners in planning it out, but all in all I think I’ll have a great time.
The mistake I made was my choice of accomodations- The convention info mentioned guests could stay at the Sheridan. I assumed that’s where the con was. How convenient! But the rooms cost 129 bucks a night :eek: for two nights which is quite a lot of money for a poor college student like me. Fortunately my friend is paying half of that since we’re sharing the room. I tried to talk more people into going to drive the cost of the room down more, but I couldn’t get anyone else to commit to it :(. I later found out that the convention isn’t even at the sheridan, its a block away from it. I realized that I probably could have gotten a motel room just as far for probably half the price, but oh well. At least the stay will be nice.
The convention we are going to is the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors, in Pasadena, CA. I’m going to drive there from San Jose tomorrow morning. We’re hoping to meet/get autographs from such celebrities as Bruce Campbell, Kane Hodder (Jason in Friday 13th movies) and Udo Kier. Unfortunately, some people advertised won’t be making it, such as Robert Englund (Freddy) and Jeffery Coombs. Still, we’re going to have a great time. I am very excited- this is my first trip sans parents!
