I don’t know what I am - half Republican, half Libertarian?
I think there are likely too many social programs, and they cost too much and are abused.
I think that lesbians have rights, but not one bit more than straights.
I don’t want a large tax rebate.
I don’t know if women have the right to have an abortion at ANY time during their pregnancy. I can’t make a clear decision on this. I am morally opposed to abortion, but don’t what legislation (if any) should be placed on it.
I think school vouchers can work in a limited sense.
I don’t think that religion has ANY place in government
I think it’s important to take care of the environment, but not by using made-up, junk, and pseudoscience like most bleeding heart liberals tend to***
I think that the “haves” have a very limited responsibility to take care of the “have nots” under law, BUT that they should morally feel obligated to be kind and charitable.
Until I was subjected to a horrible atrocity, I thought the death penalty was “WRONG!!” Afterwards, I not only believe in it, but demand it.
***Note - I’m not accusing bio-brat of this, actually she’s someone I rather like. I’m making a sweeping, unfair generalization based on personal experience.
I don’t mind paying for them so long as there’s an observable improvement in whatever they serve.
I know homosexual people have rights.
I don’t want a rebate if that money could be better spent somewhere else.
I don’t believe in killing people.
I believe that when a parent can cite a reason or reasons to support a school’s inferiority (to another school), the government should at least give some money so that parent can better educate their child (who is part of the future of their country . . . any time you can improve your own future and it’s not hurting anyone, why not do it?). The gov’t should also look to improve the already-existing school.
I don’t think religion, as in the belief in God or a higher being, has a place in government. I do think that a sense of ethical conduct and moral sense of right and wrong belong.
I know it’s essential to take care of the environment.
I don’t think we have a responsibility to help those who have less so much as we owe it to ourselves to show them how to do that which they could not do before.
As states before, I don’t believe in killing people.
Anthracite, I agree with you on everything other than abortion (my position is that the government should stay out of the matter). You running for president, by any chance? I’m looking for a candidate.
Well thank you MysterEcks! I don’t think I have the looks and charm IRL to run for any elected office though, and it would be surprisingly hard for a lesbian to get on the Republican ticket - not that I wouldn’t force it if I wanted to!
My position on abortion is - undecided. I know that in today’s 5-second sound-bite society we are all expected to have opinions ready. But this is a troubling issue, and I don’t know how I feel.
bio-brat, I hope you didn’t think I was making fun of you by my post - I really wasn’t. I’ve liked you ever since the “Snapped” thread.
Anthracite of course I don’t think you’re making fun of me. You gave your opinions and I think that’s great. I like a well thought out argument whether it agrees with me or not.
Certainly I didn’t expect folks to agree with me. Like I said, I just needed to get it off my chest.
However, I posted, and fell asleep. It was too much early afternoon drinking, I’m afraid. Us liberals need a good buzz on to deal with the inequities of life.
