I Am Proud Of My President Because....

Yeah, good thing this isn’t GD. Shame it’s not the Pit either.

Back when I was in the beer business, trans-shippers (we hyphenated it) were the bane of the industry. They’d circumvent the region wholesaler and bring in trailers of beer down from upstate distributors while under-cutting their prices.

Hmmm, not one mention of Kerry’s trip to the secret KGB Treblinka HQ’s yet.

Agreed. But his message is not wrong.

“Mission Accomplished” - sign on a naval vessel during a Bush speech/visit to the Middle East

“The mission isn’t accomplished yet” - Bush last night.

What in thunder does it matter that Bush sticks to his guns and states his beliefs clearly?

He’s so often incorrect!

If he was in first grade, he might get gold stars for being so honest.

But what matters now is that he behave wisely, whatever his motivation might be.

Gee… I’m somewhat embarrassed to be an American these days… and “nukular” still just sounds damn goofy…

Kind of like cutting costs by not sending in Special Forces to finally get bin Laden, when you can save a few bucks and hire the locals ( whose loyalties are suspect at best… ) to do the job, blow the job, return emptyhanded and destroy our credibility worldwide.

Yeah. Maybe he did use the word correctly. Kind of horrific though, isn’t it?

On an equally important point, I did notice in the wide shots that Bush had more light on him than Kerry did.

I guess the Lighting Director was a Republican… :dubious:

I am proud of my president because he has recently turned the most delightful shade of Oompa-Loompa orange!

I am proud of My President (well, he’s still not **My *President, mind you), because he can do an Alfred E. Neuman impersonation for 90 minutes, without wetting himself or those near him.

Maybe it’s me, but as the debate wore on, the contrast between their head shapes became more and more pronounced. Kerry also started to look like a caricature, but I can’t place it. But Bush started to look like a cross between Alfred E. Neuman and the speak-hear-see-no-evil monkeys.

And after he said “nukulur,” didn’t it seem that Kerry said the word, correctly, a lot more times than he really had to?

*Actually, I’m only assuming he didn’t wet himself; I forgot to look at the end, when he stepped away from the podium.

Does nukular persist outside the US? Or is it purely a hick thing?

I’m proud of the President because he remembered Poland!

Well, somebody has to…

Pointless is debatable… but the President’s issues with the English language, and discussion thereof, are by now nothing if not mundane.

Oompa loompa doompety doo
I’ve got a perfect puzzle for you
Oompa loompa doompety dee
Turn off your brain and listen to me

What do you get when your country’s attacked?
Aim for bin Laden but invade Iraq.
The US is big, in the world we are tops,
So accuse your opponent of doing flip-flops
I don’t like the look of it.

Oompa loompa doompety blex
Your international ploys are all wrecks
You will get your missages mexed
Like the Oompa Loompa Doompety . . . umm, sexed?

-or a song from a somewhat similar movie:

Glib, glib here,
Fib, fib there,
and a war or two just because…
That’s how we make debates today,
in the merry old land of "Uh?"s

When you were young, and your mind was an empty thing
You used to think “live and let lie” (youknowyoudidyouknowyoudidyouknowyoudid…)
But if this big bad grown-up world in which you’re livin’
Gets you caught in a lie…

Live and Let Lie !!

What does it matter to ya?
If you’ve got a war to win you’re gonna win in hell
You’ve got to wipe out all the heathen daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamned !

( instrumental break )

Now that you’re grown, and your Dad runs the whole damned thing
You still believe, " live and let lie"
Fistfuls of mud that you know you will be slingin’
Makes America cry…

Live and Let Lie !!

Now, now…haven’t we just misunderestimated the President’s ability to form a rational quote?
“REDEFINING THE ROLE OF THE UNITED STATES FROM ENABLERS TO KEEP THE PEACE TO ENABLERS TO KEEP THE PEACE FROM PEACEKEEPERS IS GOING TO BE AN ASSIGNMENT.” -JAN. 2001

“I’M HOPEFUL. I KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF AMBITION IN WASHINGTON, OBVIOUSLY. BUT I HOPE THE AMBITIOUS REALIZE THAT THEY ARE MORE LIKELY TO SUCCEED WITH SUCCESS AS OPPOSED TO FAILURE.” -JAN. 2001
