I am Rosco hear me....roar?

We are getting a new kitty! He is now two weeks old so we won’t be able to bring him home until mid February. I just wanted to share.

He is a red classic tabby, Maine Coon.

AAAAH KITTY!!! Kittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykittykit-

Ahem. Sorry. He’s just SO CUTE! And what a color!

Congratulations. Roscoe’s a handsome guy. He seems atypical for an MCC, in that he’s a much brighter red, and doesn’t evince the wide spatulate paws and Sydney Opera House ears of many of the MCCs I’ve known, but that may be just his age or the angle from which the picture was taken. He seems awfully young, in fact, for a breeder to have separated him from his mother. He sure seems happy to have ended up with you, though, which will come in handy when he’s forty times his present size. Enjoy each other, and get used to having a piece of tough durable material draped over your thighs when you pet him. MCCs, I recall, react poorly to being declawed.

OOOOooo pretty! We are shopping for a new kitty and DeHusband would LOVE a MCC. But since all our cats are rescues, that doesn’t seem likely. Happy kitty!

Nice solid red. What’s that writing on Roscoe’s chest? :dubious:

Noooooo. We don’t have him yet. He is still with his mommy kitty. We won’t actually be able to bring him home until February. He just opened his eyes last week and his ears are still closed, which is why they are still flopped over his head. After Christmas we are going back to take 5 week old pictures so you can see the difference. I just love his markings, at two weeks old you can already see the tabby striping.

Not the t-shirt! The kitty sitting on the red t-shirt. sheeeesh.

Oh, my, am I a Maine-raised moron, who didn’t read the sentence I was given. Sorry. In a month, the little cuss’ll be perfect, and ready to leave his mother. He’s still a kitty Adonis, though, and you better have plenty of film and a way to deal with those puma-type claws. Canvas aprons work just fine, by the way. I tell ya, when he gets a little bigger, he’ll take a pint of blood (unintentionally) with every purrrrrrrrrrr. MCCs tend to be aggressive, though, so be protective of Leslie, who just isn’t equipped for a fight with even a half-grown Coon Cat.

hehehe Lexie is also a Maine Coon. She is only 6 months old and 9 pounds already. We got her from the same breeder we are getting Rosco from. We took her over there so the breeder could see how well she is developing and how gorgeous her coat is. We figured while we had both together, to snap a photo for comparison on just how tiny he really is right now.

I am sure Lexie will be able to dish out the damage towards Rosco if he gets, “too big for his britches”. We didn’t buy breeding rights to either cat, so both will be altered when the time comes.

Lexie’s coat pattern

Then how old’s Rosco? If Lexie is only six months, then Rosco in your pictures looks like he’s barely dried off.

Rosco is two weeks old when that picture was taken this past Sunday. He is weighing in at a whopping 11 3/4 ozs now. So you are pretty close to being correct on him still being wet. His ears are still closed so he is deaf right now, and his eyes haven’t fully focused yet. I will say one thing, he has a set of lungs on him, for a tiny thing he certainly speaks his mind if he isn’t happy.

I can hardly wait until February when we can bring him home to cuddle.

My God!!!

It looks like it that thing in Alien that crawled out of that guy’s gut!

I love Maine Coons, but, having said that, shouldn’t you have Lexxie spayed around now, since she’s six months old already?

Male cats are the ones that MUST be neutered before they hit six months of age, due to spraying. Lexie will be going in next month for a spay. She hasn’t cycled yet, so we were giving her another month before taking her in.

Baby kitty! Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

What a gorgeous fellow! I’m sooo jealous. I’ve been resisting the urge to contact my breeder and see what new litters are coming up. I’m currently owned by two Ragdolls, but Maine Coons are right up there in beauty and size.

Um, you do own/or are shopping for a kick ass vacuum? Right??

That is one seriously adorable kitty. cuddles

I am sooooo jealous! I’ve always wanted a Maine Coon, especially an orange tabby, but cats keep happening to me. Maybe someday.

Heh. Lexie looks pretty nonplussed in pic #3.

Cute cats. I’ve got a stray with what must be a lot of Maine Coon in her, though without the ear tufts (are those just on males?)

We owe a Dyson “Animal” for a reason. Between the golden retriever and the cats, it’s shed city around our house. The Dyson kicks some butt on picking all of the hair up. We currently have 3 cats and the dog. All long hair. What was I thinking picking up another long hair cat? :smack:

Lexie wasn’t thrilled with the hour long trip to the breeder and all the strange cats around her. She really didn’t remember the place. The other cats never hissed once at her. Nope, ear tuffs are also on the females. The males are the ones that develop that deep mane around the neck that gives them that lion look. Both male and females have the large fluffy tails, ear tuffs and silky fur.

Yeah I have always wanted an orange kitty as well. From what my breeder said, unless you just breed two reds together at a time, getting a red tabby out of a normal liter is rare. Most of her liters never produce a red tabby. I just told her if any of her liters produced a red to call me.

Time is going to drag on for the next 2 months.
