I am so done with this pregnancy thing.

I believe, by tradition, she’s expected to provide an heir and a spare. At least, if she has a girl next, they’ll just take the stalled legislation to allow a female decendent to become queen off the back burner. So she won’t have to keep having children until she produces another male heir.

Personally, I don’t care if one is a royal or a commoner, it’s still a uterus and not a clown car.

If she has an older boy and a younger girl, they’ll inherit in order of age just as the law stands. Only if she has a middle girl and then a second, younger boy will a change in legislation actually change order of succession. So the law wouldn’t have been in any dire need of change if the current only child had been a girl, since she would be first in line after her father anyway. It would only have been a mater of urgency by the second pregnancy, no matter the sex of the first child.

The english like queens, as the Duchess of Brunswick famously remarked. I doubt they would have dallied if there was chance of being cheated of one by delay in legislation.

In any case, as this thread shows, horrible pregnancies don’t seem to deter women much. Maternal amnesia, was it?

I love that story, thank you! And am I glad I had my passport renewed last year

True… But doesn’t she want her daughters to do the same? Sadist/masochist, mark my words!

Just because she had hyperemesis with George doesn’t mean she’d have the same thing with a second child.

Three and a half weeks…

I’m in less pain, though I’m gaining weight like mad now.

I just wanted to thank everyone for cheering me up when I needed it - it really did help when I was feeling down.

By the way - did behavior in the womb continue after birth with everyone elses babies? Because I seem to have a laid-back, peaceful little darling in there, and I wouldn’t mind a peaceful, laid-back baby. No keeping me up at night with acrobatics so far, no violent protests at the world, just gentle kicking during the day. I’d like that.

Seriously, this unborn creature has been subjected to the following:

-International travel by plane.
-Violent boat rides.
-Heavy Metal concert.
-Opera.
-Loud construction.
-Swimming in cold water.
-Driving with mad person behind the wheel.
-Maternal illness w/coughing and crying.
-Way to much walking.

And didn’t react in any way whatever. The only thing the little darling seems to dislike is:

-Kate Winslet.

Seriously, we watched “Divergent” last week, and the little one wasn’t phased by either gunfire, loud music, or training montages. But any time Ms. Winslet was on screen, I got improvised macarena against my ribs

Did her character have a subsonic leitmotif? Does her voice frighten the unborn? I have no idea, but it seems like I can never watch Titanic again.

Maybe Bub loves the melodious sound of Ms Winslet’s voice? Think back: Is there any chance the kicking was Morse code for “More Kate! More Kate!”?

I guess your baby will have pretty broad taste in music.

Hm…maybe? This calls for science!
