I can understand being disappointed I just don’t understand why she was crying. If the play was that important to her I guess she shouldn’t have gone on the field trip. Take it as a life lesson I guess.

If you don’t like it then I suggest you don’t start threads in the Pit. Especially threads where people break down and cry for stupid reasons.

You can’t have it both ways. If this play is so important to her don’t you think that it may have been important to other people as well? Is there a possibility that they might have been annoyed at all those new people coming in at an inconvenient time?
I was in the orchestra when I was in school. Some times parents and others enjoyed the concerts less because people didn’t oberve proper audience behavior. So even though it isn’t a Broadway production these things do make a difference.

Uh, the trip was required for her to pass the class. I’ll chalk that one up to me not being descriptive enough, again.
Well, sort of
I mean, I like the bickering… that’s always entertaining, but the OP’s rant just seems kind of… well, lame to me.
However, if he’s pissed off, warranted or not… I suppose this is a good place to get out your anger I guess. Maybe get some outdide perspective on it.
Some of Libs’ comments about the OP’s rant are sort of lame too, ALTHOUGH, I can see where he thought kplmonkeypants MIGHT be clayton_e… It almost seems as if the spelling errors and the different writing style were done purposely to distinguish the ‘two’ authors.
Yeah. That’s the difference between you and me Lib, I know my limitations. You on the other hand, have probably began factoring in the amount of food you would need to acquire in order to feed the hungry, how much land you need to reserve for growing populations after feeding these people, balancing the food chain, eventually colonizing on other inhabitable planets once Earth gets full, and all the other equations involved… including how much food you need to set aside if a group of hungry people were late for dinner due to a feild trip.
I however will do a little analyzing myself. I’m obviously don’t have all the facts, so I may be way off. As you can tell by my lousy writing style (which I’m completely conscious of), I’m not trying to sound pretentius. I’m not an expert on… anything, and I don’t pretend to be. Just telling yo how I see this.
It seems to me that clayton_e is just pissed off, not unlike most of the threads I’ve just read in the BBQ pit, for example: “My ass itches, and I’m depressed and I’m unemployed!” The problem is, I think Clay is trying to place his anger somewhere, and chose his principal and V principal to be the focus of the thread, instead of: “I’m fucking pissed off I didn’t get to see this school performance!” I think it’s almost as if he’s trying to justify his anger by trying to place blame, instead of saying, “This sucks… but shit happens”. I also don’t understand why the last 10 minutes would have made a difference. Maybe it would have to him, but if it were me, I would rather miss it entirely than tease myself with the bare-assed end of the show.
But that’s just me. My no sleep in 2 days/Dyslexic ass has spoken.
Man I’m going to read these posts after a long rest and HATE myself.
Lib, I was wrong and I’m sorry. I REALLY read everything, but I’m not catching the material like I thought I was. I haven’t had a wink of sleep in (literally) 49 hours.
Boy, see what I miss when I go to my company Christmas party and recover all day Sunday?
clayton_e, I took Radio and TV Broadcasting at SUNY. It was fun, but now I’m an accountant, so it wasn’t really useful. I’m too shy to be on the radio or TV and there’s no money in the technical side.
Aaaanyway, like LaurAnge, I really can’t believe how some of you are acting in this thread. Saying “School’s out, let the fun begin” is really pissy of you, millroyj. Grow the fuck up.
Monty, how in the world can you assume that clayton is a jerk because his girlfriend cried? Do you have a site for that? Something we don’t know about him that you do? Don’t assume anything. I also got the impression that you thought he may be abusive. But I suppose you’ll now cry “reading comprehension” when, actually, you weren’t clear yourself.
Pot. Kettle. Black.
For the people who “don’t give a fuck”? Go the fuck away.
Lib, Can’t someone come to the pit and complain about something that’s bothering them without someone else badgering them about the details and telling them they have no right to be angry?
There goes my rant about my passive-aggressive co-worker I was planning. I don’t want to have people think I’m in the wrong.
Remember the first rule of SDMB: “Don’t be a jerk”. Some of you are so quick to spout off the rule, but don’t want to follow it yourselves. Goddamn, you people disappoint me sometimes.
I was being facetious, asshole. As if you would actually have a site for why his girlfriend was crying. :rolleyes I was merely saying that you shouldn’t assume anything. And that was a pretty big fucking assumption there!
To everyone else who’s been jumping down his throat:
When clayton_e says this, it kinda tells me that at least he sees an alternate reason for why they weren’t let in the play:
Which is what I suspect happened as well.
But everyone conveniently missed it, huh? Because pile-ons are so kewlies. Grow up.
I am well aware of the timing involved, Clayton. Hence my comment that the administration may not have wanted to go much past the bell.
And I’ll stand by my post. This may “only” be high-school theater. However, the etiquette still stands. It’s considered very rude for people to come and go during a live performance. Among other reasons, it’s distracting to the performers, and to the audience. It would be unfair to the (I’m assuming) hundreds in the audience if the group returning to school from the field trip were to be let in.
I can assure you, Clayton, that this was not a conspiracy to keep your girlfriend from seeing the play. The administration was trying to keep disruption to a minimum, and to allow school to be dismissed as close to 2:10 as possible. That’s all.
