I think you are wanted by the majority of “us”. But remember, haters are everywhere and then tend to be vocal about it. Hate is a great attention-getting advice and many haters are seeking just that.
People say shit like this when they believe that only like-minded listeners are in earshot. So if everyone just ignores them, they won’t go away. On the contrary they will assume that they are safe to express these beliefs and that everyone else who doesn’t object must hold similar opinions.

I think the jokes are making light of something so absurd that there is no serious answer to it - the lovely Nina was born in the US, she’s an American citizen, and as far as we know, she won fair and square.
