Recently at work, I was given the opportunity to basically create a new department from the ground up. (by new dept., I mean myself and 2 new employees)
It’s actually a great opportunity for me. I have the CEO and other higher ups really watching the results of this. By this time next year, I’ll either get another 40% raise, or be out on the street begging for quarters at the on ramp.
Anyway, onto the more pertinent part of the story.
In order to bring in two new employees, I need to outfit a couple of cubicles for them. They have drawers, chairs and all the usual desk stuff but we recently installed a new phone system and replaced our computers and they don’t have those.
Instead of being able to order them myself, I have to go through a guy in another dept. I asked him last month to get this stuff for me and he let me know it takes about a month to get through all the red tape and what not… okay, I get that.
So I ask him today if he’s got my equipment and he proudly brings over…
2 new chairs
Honestly… we don’t need the chairs. They cost a few hundred apiece and the budget is tight enough that I don’t want to spend it.
I JUST WANT MY COMPUTERS AND PHONES!
