No, that’s not a typo. There used to be a Winchell’s near my house, but I guess it went under. Apparently the new owners decided it was too much trouble to get new signs, so instead they modified the old ones. I’m not sure if they read WinchaUU or WinchaVV, the lettering is really weird looking. The donuts are OK, but I’ll probably be going somewhere else for my fix.
Wow. Wonder what other stores you could do that to. Target could become a music store called getTar. Sears could go into the hearing aid business and become ears. Walmart will, of course, eventually be known as malWart.
Our local donut shop closed. They had The Best Donuts In The Whole Entire World[sup]tm[/sup]. Now the only choice we have is trucked-in Krispy Kremes at Walmart and the gas stations. 3x as expensive and nowhere near as yummy.
Krispy Kremes are gross. And yes, I have had them fresh off the assembly line, because I know someone is going to barge in here and insist that they need to be fresh. Fresh crap is hardly better than stale crap.
You can move here to the Bay Area for donuts, we have lots of donut shops. Unfortunately for me, the best ones are either a bit far or operate on trucker’s hours (early morning to early afternoon), whereas I operate on geek hours (way too damn late).
