That’s right, folks…I broke down and bought a SUV. I found an '84 Bronco II that needs a little bit of work. New engine and tranny in it, with only about 37,000 miles on them. It rocks on high. I love it. The body’s a little rough, but nothing that couldn’t be sanded down and painted.
What color should I paint it?
Any suggestions?
Oh, and what should my new Supermobile be called?
My step daughter has been slowly getting an 84 Bronco II on the road. She bought it from a neighbor that bought it from an abandoned vehicle auction. He highly underestimated what was required to make the thing even partially roadworthy. Being as the 3 grandchildren will be spending time in it, I have spent quite a bit of time myself helping. So far it has required a complete brake system overhaul, rewiring of the ignition system, new valve cover and oil pan gaskets (fear it needs front and rear main seals), the radiator repaired, the drivers seat needed to be welded, new seat belts throughout, new battery, and the head liner reglued to the roof. It still needs a new alternator bracket (replacing the cheap stamped steel one with a cast iron one that won’t bend), tires, windshield, wing windows, and a new key and lock assembly for the rear tailgate. All this on a vehicle with only 92,000 original miles.
Have fun…
