You mean to tell me that no one else noticed this username/post combo?
mmm
I did.
Or just bring a pair of bolt cutters out to the ramp and take the damn lock off. Make it look like you’re an official repo guy or something like that. Be a little less conspicuous.
Define house. <veg>
There are a few PBY’s and Goosed Gooses…
There’s a C-130 for sale over at controller. Just sayin’. ![]()
I am starting to get worried about Desert Nomad. We haven’t heard from him in a couple of days. Do you think it is time to call Search and Rescue? Then again, he could just be wandering the Mojave as usual because it is his native habitat.
Sell it to someone who needs a prop. I’d create my own market.
You’re supposed to give props, not sell 'em. Though that’s not as good a business plan, I grant you.
If you want to have some fun with it, do a charity event called “Challenge Air”. LINK.
Its where they give flights to kids with disabilities. Lots of fun.
So, um, I guess this adoption idea isn’t gonna fly.
This is my first plane.
I hope to fly 100 hours per year… mostly for $100 hamburger runs but a couple times per year for longer (800 mile+) trips.
I am working on my instrument rating.
It stays in a hangar when not flying.
I plan to get my instrument rating in it. I work from home so have no commute. Initially it will be for local flights and a few weekend trips. Later we’d like to take it to Michigan once a year (my wife is from there).
What, no trip to the Dakotas?
It just looks so clean, obviously very well taken care of. It’s hard to believe it predates the Reagan presidency, is the same age as Alien, Apocalypse Now, Life of Brian, Being There, Escape From Alcatraz, Manhatten and The Jerk.
Now that’s ageing gracefully. Many more happy flight hours to you, Desert Nomad.
Wasn’t Waxahachie, TX, was it?
Nope.
Come on up to Oshkosh for the Fly-In! It’s later this month.
How did I miss an airplane thread? Grats on the purchase dude.
Absolutely. Flying in to Airventure (Fisk arrival) is a rite of passage for any pilot wanting to run the gauntlet IMHO. They even station FAA employees in outlying townships to start lining up all the arrivals for landing.
For those who don’t know. Airventure is the EAA fly-in. It’s a week long adventure dedicated to anything that flies with a human in or on it. You can ride in a Trimotor Ford or a B17, see all the newest aviation offerings from Cessna to Airbus (A380 in the past), talk to the guy(s) who just built a Van’s RV, flew in in a replica Gipsy Moth, restored a Piper Cub…everyone. I so want to go. Shamefully, I’ve never made it.
The news stories about planes crashing on the way to or from Oshkosh is one of the signs of the approaching end of summer. There seem to be several every year. I believe Oshkosh doesn’t get “credit” for most of these crashes because people are flying to or from it in relative short hops, so the crashes are listed as having other points of origin or destinations.
Congrats on the purchase - I’m envious as hell!
I was in the Sacramento area until 2013 and would have loved to have a plane to fly around that beautiful coast with my wife and kids; I did if for work, but never got to share it with her.
Have you named her yet? She doesn’t look like she likes being called just “the airplane”.
