I bought an Apple product.

For the first time ever. Yesterday.

It’s an iPod Shuffle- my boss’ birthday present. Normally, I would just have bought him a Sandisk or Creative or [insert other brand] mp3 player, but he likes labels and he’s not very technically proficient. I figure the iTunes hand-holding stuff will be right up his alley.

Now, personally, I hate Apple. I have fond memories of the early Macs- I whiled away many an afternoon in boarding school playing Civilization once I figured out how to get around the network security protocols- but once I discovered Windows 95 it was pretty much game over for Apple with me.

Maybe this is a big step for me.

Do not judge the iPod by Apple’s computer products, or vice versa.

You won’t [del]get sucked into the cult[/del] join the club until you buy an Apple product for yourself.

Well, I’m not buying a Mac, and I don’t need an mp3 player*. What else have they got?

*I suppose I could hook one up to the aux jack on my car stereo and stop carting around my CDs, but if I was going to do that I’d just buy the one with the best price/capacity ratio, which presumably wouldn’t be an iPod.

How 'bout some wildly overpriced RAM?

Or a semi-HD movie?

You should look into getting a MacBook Wheel - a revolutionary new computer that doesn’t even have a keyboard. How can it get more simple than that?

I often wonder just how many people actually called in for this…

Heh… did you see the prices?

8 GB: $2,599

40 GB: $9,960

Looks like someone at ONN has had some experience buying Apple products.

What cheapo shop you been gong to?

That Windows 95 sure blew away the Mac OS. Boy howdy.

Nah , it was when bonzi buddy got introduced ,that MS leapt ahead of the competition.

Declan

FTR, I didn’t think Win95 was better than the Mac OS; how could it be? It was a blatant rip-off.

What was important about Windows 95 was that it made PCs usable, so I didn’t have to choose between a stable, intuitive operating platform, and owning a computer that actually had software available for it.
