I bought the coolest thing today.

I went by the grocery store to pick up some food and stuff, and while I was there I saw the coolest thing. It was an electric toothbrush with a brush thingy that spins. I brought it home and tried it out. This thing kicks ass, and my breath is all fresh and happy.

Just something mundane and pointless I must share. I think I’m getting close to 700 posts, so I have to pad in every way possible.

I makes my teeth SO happy!

Yep, I have one too. Mine is a Braun Oral-B. It kicks much ass and my teeth feel “polished” every day!

I’ll never go back to a regular toothbrush.

I just knew Demo and I would have something in common.
I LOVE my Braun!

** What color is your toothbrush?**

That’s the same one I got today. I’ve only brushed my teeth with it twice, since I’ve only had it about 5 hours, but I love it. Yeah, I’m with you. I’m not going to be able to go back to a regular toothbrush. The $30 was worth it. And, speaking of cost. How much are replacement brush attachments?

3 for $20 at Target

And if you want that extra shiny smile, use Enamelon. I swear, that stuff really works. My dentist reccomended it a few months ago because I had was losing enamel along my gums and it has really helped that, as well as seemingly helping the rest of the tooth as well.

BTW, I just bought replacements this weekend and couldn’t believe they were that much. (I paid about the same for mine.) I figure that’s where they really make their money, since the toothbrush wasn’t much more than $20 (including 3 heads). Maybe next time I’ll just buy a whole new brush. Actually, I think the package I bought came with two brush bases. I think it was only 20 or 30 bucks. Hmmm…

Is Enamelon used in place of, or as an addition to, regular toothpaste?

I actually saw a version at Wal-Mart the other week that was only $3.95 or so!! I have no idea how good it is, though.

Oddly enough, the battery was replaceable but the brush head was not! So it was TRULY disposable. The display said stuff like “Take it on vacation!”

The Braun rocks. My hygienist strongly recommended it to me because I was pushing my gums back with my overstrenuous brushing habits. Replacement heads ARE expensive, but they sell them at Linens-n-Things and Bed Beth & Beyond for a little cheaper.

Alas, though, I have to challenge you on the “coolest” declaration. Because what I bought this weekend is cooler yet.

We were cruising the lip balm aisle of a drugstore, searching for some chapstick for my balm-addicted husband. I discovered a “lip balm cosy.” It’s a small insulated sleeve of wetsuit-type material that tightly grips a tube of chapstick. It has a clip for putting on a zipper or anywhere else you can think of. It floats, too. We immediately put it on our diaper bag and I must have had a half-dozen people ask me where I got it. It rocks.

The double bonus is, it came with a tube of balm in it, and it happened to be the hard-to-find tropical flavor my husband has been searching for for months.

This, my friends, is serendipity at its finest. I should have bought 10 of these things.

I used to use the Oral-B. It does a good job, but don’t use a toothpaste with abrasives (like baking soda) in it, since it ruins the gears inside the brush heads and makes them die faster. I called Braun about this, since I hadn’t seen that listed in the instructions (this was quite a while ago; the Oral B’s been around for more than 10 years) and they recommended either to use their own (I think) or to brush without toothpaste.

Probably any gel (like Aim) would be fine.

Aglarond, Enamelon is used in place of another toothpaste.

frogstein: I am sure the brush will wear out long before the brush head assembly will. I think I have used mine for about a month or two before the brush starts to give out. I used to go through regular toothbrushes a lot quicker. I think I may not be pressing as hard with this one.

The one Demo bought did come with 2 bases, he gave one to me, which I gave to my son, because it made my nose wiggle and itch and I sneezed and rubbed my face up everytime I brushed my teeth. I’ll stick with the old standard brushes, thanks.

Anybody out there try the InterPlak?

It’s truly awesome. Comes with a flossing attachment, too. I’ve been using these toothbrushes for 6 years or so. I remember the first time I used it - I couldn’t believe how clean my teeth were.

Whatever happened with brushing your own damn teeth with a plain white toothbrush and baking powder? j/k
