What is ‘a sound like air rushing over the top of your head’?
Nononono
“This term for missing a joke sounds like a plane going right over your head.”
“What is whoosh?”
“Correct-o!”
That is much better.
“I’ll take Anal Bum Cover for $200, Alex.”
“What is ear-splitting roar?”
"Incorrect!..wait, our judges said we will accept that, We also would have accepted “black sheep black sheep”.
What is “In the butt, Bob”?
Apologies for the whoosh. I have been battling too many genuine internet ignorami lately.
As Gyrate said, that’s not how the show works. The other thing is that the “answers” cannot be so obscure that a good percentage of the viewers will not know the answers. Add in the issue where people who know the proper response but they choke under the pressure of actually being on the real show blurt out either nothing or something not even close to the correct response. AFAICT this is part of the draw of the show. The show that plays just before it, Wheel of Fortune, has the same issues and the same draw.
Huh. Wheel comes on after Jeopardy in these parts.
It depends on what market you’re in. They’re syndicated.
Car Talk used to do those funny sentences supposedly written by school kids. I remember one of them was something like, “Everything seemed strange and disconcerting, like when you’re on vacation and Jeopardy comes on at 7:00 instead of 7:30.”
