There is usually a minimum pot size before a rake is taken by the house. It sucks for you, but this is a good thing, especially for micro limit players.
I think playing $1/$2 games gets you into raked territory pretty quickly.

Playing $1/2 underrolled is a good way to lose a bunch of money very quickly. There is no way a $5 pot on NL10 is not a raked hand, so I would just wait a while and see if it takes them some time to process. Like I said upthread, it took them several hours to update my account info when I cashed my first freeroll.
You don’t get raked hands on the .05/.10 tables - it has to be at least the .25/.50 tables.
When I joined at Crazy they wouldn’t let me withdraw funds until a certain amount of funds were from raked hands. I tried the .05/.10 and was told I would have to play at least the .25/.50 games.
Sure enough, I now have 5 raked hands to my credit.
Not sure why I didn’t have any before, I’ve played in ring games there before…quite a few hands. I guess they expire after a while or something.
They’re only counting hands since they restricted freeroll entry. Look in your account info page under “View my raked hands” and you’ll see this:
Crap. They have gone to the evil scheme they tried to implement a few weeks ago. The “Help” page says something like “a raked hand is one where you are dealt and the rake is at least a quarter”. The “quarter” can’t be right, because a quarter rake at one or two percent is a huge pot. Maybe the pot needs to be at least a quarter?
So we need to figure out whether merely being dealt a hand qualifies a player for a raked hand (can I sit in on a .25/.50 game and fold my way to raked hands?) Do I need to see a hand to a show-down? And what stakes qualify for raked hands?
Duke (and anybody else who has some raked hands): you can search back 40 days for raked hands. Please save and post them or whatever so we can figure out the minimum requirements. (I have zero raked hands, so tourneys don’t qualify - apparently gotta be ring games.)
Duke (and anybody else who has some raked hands): does your raked-hand count go down if you “spend” them on a freeroll, or do you retain them for the future?
Any other thoughts on getting back into the freerolls?
There’s something screwy about their rake system. I saw the part about "at least .25", that has to be the size of the pot since I don't think I've been in ANY pots where the rake could be .25.
But… I played a .05/.10 ring game last night for about an hour and made many raises of .25 myself, plus all the other money in the pot. The pot was definitely more than $.25 and raked, many times.
At the end of it all, I logged off and came back in about an hour and had 8 raked hands TOTAL, already having 5 raked hands in my account. Came back in a bit and it was up to 9 total. Haven’t checked since then, I might have credit for more now that more time has passed. I played a lot longer and a lot more hands to get the extra 4 rakes than I ever did to get the 5 previous.
And the reason I was even playing was the freeroll structure. You get $750 more starting chips if you have at least 10 raked hands, $1000 more for 25 hands, etc. But the way they credit you, you get the $750 for 10 PLUS the $1000 for 25, so if you have 25 raked hands you get $1750 more starting chips. Now you have $2750 vs my $1000 at the start of play. Quite an advantage. And the blinds are double what they used to be, now starting at 20/40 instead of 10/20. So I figured I just play long enough to get 25 more raked hands and be set for next time. Didn’t happen that way.
And I don’t know what the rule is for using your raked hand credits towards freeroll entry. Immediately after the freeroll (I went out pretty early), I still had my 5 raked hands I had before. Could be they didn’t have time to take one away yet, or maybe they don’t take them away. I started a ring game right after that, and don’t really have a clue how the raked hands accumulate so I’m not sure how they handle that.
Could we start a private raked table, bet the pots large enough to satisfy their requirements, but make sure we all wind up with the money we started with (minus the rake)?

Where the hell was Missy? I coulda used the extra points.
A vast improvement! I went from winning nothing to winning… uh, nothing. Damn bubble. But I was close! You’d all better watch out next week!
Last I heard, one of the guys was sending her a new copy of XP. My guess is that she’s cussing at a box that just sits there and beeps at her.
She should be ready for blood when she gets back up.
Sorry guys.
Two issues:
Firstly, it was strongly suggested that I do not download Crazy Poker to the work machine again.
Second, The Kid was miserable - her first official migraine.
Combine one and two and you had me not playing last night.
XP not received as of yet, so still no home puter.
OOoops…
Yup.
For a week there I was able to play our tourney on the flash version (no DL), but with this last “upgrade” in CP, many games are no longer available in flash - including private table games.
shrug
I won $ .75 today! I’m excited to enjoy the weekly game as soon as I find it.
Do a search for SDMB. It’s SDMB Weekly, not SDMB Private (which is a microtable I set up for us to move money around.) The password for both is:
rudengrim
Got to “Private” > “Multi-Table Tournaments” > “SDMB Weekly”
Thanks guys!
It’s nice if you have AIM. We like to talk smack on the side. No collusion, that’d ruin all the fun, but it’s easier than using the game chat.
And Duke can cuss like a friggin mofo in AIM. If he used even SOME of the bon mots he spews on AIM in the game chat he’d be removed.
