I can never type becauase...becasue...

My fingers seem to hate that one word. Multiple times a day I have to go back and fix “because.” Every time I type it I look up automatically to see what my fingers did this time. And it is really the only word that comes up typo-ed with such confounding regularity. What is this? Some deep seated repression telling me that I am tired of giving answers out? Or is is some combo of letter calisthenics that my fingers just can’t do?

Does anyone else have this problem with because or any other word?

I have to llok at the screen when I type the word llok, because otherwise each time it appears with 2 L’s and 1 o.

It’s annoying that a person with a 4-year degree cannot figure out how to spell a 4 letter word like llok…

Eli

Mine used to be “definitely”, until I forced myself to start getting it right.

These days there’s another one but I can’t remember offhand.

I was just thinking about this the other day when I kept misspelling ‘outstanding.’ I seem to use that word a lot in work-related emails and I keep wanting to type ‘oustanding.’ Sometimes I think my typing fingers move too fast for my brain.

Although there’s not jsut one, there is jsut one that gets me almost every time…

If something’s not true, it must be falase. Where does that extra “a” keep coming from? I don’t understnad! Adn another thnig …

When in IM or a chat room, I use “LMAO” when appropriate. I also type very fast, and of course in these situations, you can’t go back and edit what you’ve already typed. And 95% of the time, LMAO comes out LKMAO.

And I swear that I don’t hit that K. I used to blame it on my keyboard (maybe a crumb under the keys or something) until it started happening on my new computer as well.

‘Becasue’ is very nearly my signature typo. I know how to spell the word, but my fingers have got it into their heads that ‘a’ and ‘s’ follow each other because that’s what they do on the keyboard. :smack: Writing ‘thing’ instead of ‘thong’ is another one, but luckily that doesn’t come up too often outside videogaming sites.

I almost always mistype teh most common word in teh English language. I don’t know what teh heck teh problem is.

Thanks you for starting this thread. I often end emails with a quick “thanks,” but when I write out the words “Thank you” that s just keeps on showing up. On the plus side, I know automatically type “thanks backspace space you.”

I also have a problem with “teh.” I blame auto-correct in Word, as I got into the habit of never having to correct myself.

teh agian taht… thank Og for iespell

becuase gets me every time, too.

thansk,
ssuan

(Who the hell types their own name wrong half the time? )

Thanks you all for teh oustanding replies becasue, llok, it is jsut great to know you are definately not alone with teh automatic typos. Even when I get because correct I know it is a falase sense of security. LKMAO!

thansk again!

ps: I’m 56 so I couldn’t/shouldn’t have a way to work “thing” into my reply

I can just picture a man bursting into song: “Becasue becuase besacue becaaaaeus, beacus of the wonderful things he does.”

This is quite embarrassing, considering my choice of major, but I often type “accouting.” The first n goes missing all the time.

In my work, I type the word lease all of the time. Dozens of times a day on good days. In the past three years, I’ve not been able to type the word least without having to backspace over the ‘e’ and put in a ‘t’. Yes, it happened when I typed least in that last sentence. And in that last sentence.
