Verrrry interesting. I had no idea if it was even possible there. I read a thread on another forum about a guy’s experience getting a CCW in Latvia, it’s always a unique process.

Getting your first CCL can be challenging. I got fingerprinted and background checked at the State Police HQ. Took the half day class at the range & qualfied. Then waited three months for it to arrive.
You get to go through most of that again if the CCL expires. There is a short grace period to renew.
I made a point to renew on time. I found out yesterday that I should have renewed 60 days early. My CCL will expire next week.
It could be four or five weeks before the State Police mail my new one. I’ll know to renew earlier next time.
My CHL felt like a cheat. It only cost me, as I recall, $10, which was the fingerprinting fee.
I’m an Assistant DA in Texas. A few years back, there was a rather prominent murder of an ADA in a parking lot, which led to a stronger push for special ADA concealed carry licenses. So, that worked to my benefit. All I had to do was fill out the application, show my employment as an ADA, do the fingerprinting, and do the proficiency test. The county sheriff, who was a certified instructor, took me to a facility he uses, ran me through the test, counted my hits, and wrote the letter certifying proficiency. Got my CHL in the mail soon after.
The actual license says “Judge/Prosecutor” on the front. A judge/prosecutor CHL allows you to carry in some areas regular CHL holders can’t, like, you know, courthouses, where DAs and ADAs tend to work.
In WA state I went to my local police station, filled out a form, paid a fee, got fingerprinted, and waited for a background check (which took less than a week for me). I got my license in the mail.
Here it’s called a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) and lasts 5 years. Mine expired 2 weeks ago so I need to renew (you have 90 days after expiration to do it).
