I can tell the weather's getting warmer

Because I can hear people’s shoes flapping everywhere on campus.

I cannot describe how much I hate that “thwack, thwack” sound that comes from people wearing flip-flop type shoes. It’s most annoying in the library, where among the quiet of the stacks, you suddenly hear:

THWACK, THWACK, THWACK, THWACK.

Then someone makes an attempt at a short run/jog to catch up with their friends while wearing them. That’s when you get the staccato thwacking that has a bit of resonance to it.

I hate this type of shoe and the noise they make with a passion.

I like thongs.

Ohhhh…those thongs!

I was taught that they weren’t supposed to make much,if any sound at all. I haven’t worn them since I was a kid,too flimsy, and too easy to get my foot cut on glass or stub my toe.

I hate hearing them too. It’s just as bad as a teenage girl trying to be sexy and clomping around in heels. Heels, properly worn should make a click, not a clop. People aren’t teaching such things anymore, along with a lot of etiquette.
