I would love to purchase a subscription to Bon Appétit magazine for my iPad. I know it exists, because when I looked up Bon Appétit on the Internet, it suggested I subscribe to the iPad magazine. But when I go to the iPad newsstand store, Bon Appétit magazine is not listed in the main page of featured magazines. There is no search bar either. Fine, so I click on “More” at the top and select “Food & Drink”, and am promptly taken to a page full of apps. I don’t want an app- I want the magazine. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to find a magazine in that damn newsstand store that’s not featured on the main page.
I fully accept that I am probably the idiot here, and that I clearly need some guidance. Can anyone help?
i don’t have any subscriptions but if i’m not mistaken, the news stand is basically just a folder for your magazine apps. so you download the Bon Appétit app and either buy a particular magazine within the app or subscribe. the featured magazines you see on the first page are all apps.
You are correct! I never really thought to consider the magazines as apps, or that the magazine delivery came from an app. I don’t remember having the same experience with another magazine that I subscribed to, but that magazine was one of the featured magazines. It’s amazing how much the rectangle magazine cover image represented something so different to me than the little square app icon! I download books all the time, and I’m sure that those are apps also, but I just never recognized them to be that.
Solved- thank you!
(There is something, however, that seems like it could be worked on in the intuitiveness department with that newsstand, because I consider myself a fairly savvy person yet yet none of that has ever seemed very clear to me)
yeah, especially since ibooks has a similar shelf and has rectangular images that are .epub files instead of apps.
