Preface: This will be, in some people’s eyes, a lame rant about a lame subject. I don’t care. It annoys me, so I’m going to bitch and whine.
About a half hour ago, I decided that I wanted to try and make a Wednesday appointment to get my hair cut and my sister asked me to sign her up for an eyebrow waxing. Fine. Mom and I had, a few months ago, tried a hair place suggested to her by a co-worker. My hair is a bitch to cut and style nicely, and I loved the job the woman did, so I want to stick with a good thing.
The place is “Salon Bella”, Maria did my hair. Armed with this remembered knowledge, I got out the trusty family address book. No problem, right? Wrong.
I started hunting in “S”, for Salon. Nope. “H” for Hair. Nope. “M” for Maria (she’s been known to do that - name, number, no explanation). Nope. Mom’s not home, so I can’t ask right now. Cursing myself for not having been more responsible and hanging onto the number, I sat down at this here computer and brought up the Yellow Pages.
I typed in the name, picked “beauty salon” as the category, and clicked on “Search”, confident that I’d get what I wanted. You can guess what happened. I tried it a few more times with slightly different parameters. Still nothing. What the fuck?
Allright, fine. I’m an impatient person, I know that. But it’s not in the fucking Yellow fucking Pages? It’s a fucking business and yet, no fucking listing. I know hair salons operate mostly on word of mouth, but throw me a fucking BONE (insert Dr. Evil joke here) and list the place in the directory. All I want is a fucking haircut and eyebrow waxing. So simple. And yes, I know that 411 exists, and I will call after I’m done bitching. My point is, what the fuck is wrong with making my life a bit simpler and just LISTING the place instead of making me pay for a 411 call? Aaaarrrghhh. Fucking annoyance.
And btw, I do know that they aren’t out to piss me off personally. At least, that’s what everyone tells me I’m going to call 411 now. If they don’t have a listing, my sister might just have to dial 911
