If you’re going Elven, you could name her Arwen. If you’re going Germanic, I like Heidi better than Schatzi. You could call her Heidi Klum (“I’m sorry, you’re out. Auf Wiedersehn.”).
I know it sounds stupid but I don’t know how to post pics.
It wasn’t a 7-11, it was a Quik-Shop.
The dog will get spayed Friday, in order to let her spend the night so I can pick her up Saturday and then spend the day helping the cats and dog get acquainted.
When I pick her up I will name her. I’m leaning towards Cecilia, but still open to suggenstions.
I’m likin’ Quickster too. Just think, no other dog will have that name and people will look at you all weird when you yell, “Here Qucks! Here Quickie!”
Well, in a little over two hours I’m picking up Quickster from the vet and bring her home.
The room where she’ll stay for a while has papers laid down, with food and water bowls and a doggie bed. Suppose I should get some toys. I have a leash, (pink for a girl dog!) and some little plastic sandwich bags for when I take her walking.
The cats, Tobermory and Atilla, are wondering what the heck is happening.
If anyone has any last minute advice on how to meld two cats with a frisky little dog, then now’s the time.
I’m trying to figure out how to post pictures so you can see my pets.
Baker - Congratulations! First things first - to post pictures, save them to some photo site like Photobucket or Flickr. Then attach links by copying the address in the address bar of the photo and clicking on the blue globe with a chain link in the toolbar right above the message box. It’ll pop up a dialogue box and ask you to enter the address - just paste it in there. When the link shows up in your post, the center part will be highlighted. That’s where you can put a caption in to be seen by us. Otherwise we’ll see the link address. Second, the cats noses are likely to be out of joint. Expect hissing and maybe a few swats at Quickster until they all learn their boundaries. Don’t be frustrated if it takes a few weeks for them to work it out amongst themselves.
Quickster has been home for almost a day now. The cats don’t like it, when they saw her come in it was the hissing and bottle-brush tail thing. Both Tobermory and Atilla retreated to the bathroom at the end of the hall, with occasional peeks out to see if the intruder is still there.
Quickster is penned up in my book room, but that’s kind of notional as I found she can go over the child gate I set up in the doorway. So I spend some time just sitting in there with her, so she doesn’t whine as much. I can close the door as well, but she whines. But already she’s getting used to that, and hopefully soon I’ll be able to let her out and start socializing her with the cats. She started crying in the middle of the night so I had to get up and deal with that, but finally she settled down. Kind of like having a kid.
Bathroom habits have been good so far. She’s only piddled inside once so far, and that was this morning when I came to greet her and take her out for her walk. Yesterday I walked her three times, and even took her to the Bark Park, a city place for dogs to run and play under the supervision of their owners. There are seperate runs for larger and smaller dogs. I walked her this morning as well. Maybe I’ll be getting more exercise than I thought I would! Of course I took along little plastic baggies to pick up her poo, and boy are they needed. I would never have thought a little dog like her could put out that much…material
