I can't let today pass without saying something

Wally was always making me laugh. I couldn’t wait to turn on the computer everyday just to see what he’d come up with next! He will live in my thoughts and in my heart forever.

Happy Birthday Wally! Miss you.

tatertot and robgruver expressed my feelings very well already so I’ll just say:

Happy Birthday, Wally, wherever you are.

Clairmont, I deleted your two first posts in this thread. There wasn’t any trouble, so you shouldn’t start about it before the fact. I honestly believe most people are wise enough not to start shit in a thread about WallyM7. By now.

He was the best person to ever grace these boards.
I can almost hear him now, saying how there were so many candles, the cake caught fire, then they doused the flames with his birthdya punch, and then…
Thankfully we can still read his posts; I have them printed out to show my friends who didn’t know him.

Thank you, Coldfire.

I jumped the gun, when there was no reason to do so.

One of my favourite posters as a lurker.
Happy belated b-day.

Did anyone else see “The Simpsons” two weeks ago? They were buying Granpa a grave, and one of the options was “Rent-a-Widow”—they showed a weeping, wailing woman in front of a tombstone that read “Wally.” Boy, did THAT give me a turn . . .

Happy birthday Wally.

Happy Birthday, Birthday partner.

Hope there’s tequila in heaven! Wally always got it at PCPs. I’ll raise a can of Citra for you, buddy!

I miss you Wally! :wally

Wally’s highly entertaining posts were one of the things that kept me coming back to the SDMB. I only wish that I had stopped lurking sooner so that I could have gotten to know him.

Happy Birthday, Wally.

I never knew Wally. I had never read any of his posts. In fact, I only rarely came to the SMDB. Then, one day, I saw a heading that said something like “WallyM7 Has Passed Away.”

I thought to myself, "What the hell is a WallyM7?’ and opened the thread. I saw some of the most beautifully crafted and heartfelt farewells to a beloved friend I have ever read in my life.

I’m a pretty cynical man who only rarely cries, usually in the face of the death of extremely close friends and family, but I had tears running down my face by the time I read the first page, and although they ebbed and flowed, they didn’t completely stop until well after I’d finished reading all five pages of comments. I knew then that SMDB was a community I wanted to be a part of in some small way.

So, as one of the many, many people who were not fortunate enough to know this wonderful man while he was drawing breath, I’d like to raise a glass to him, both from myself and all of us who weren’t as lucky.

Happy Birthday, Wally. Godspeed.

thank you for starting this thread, coldfire.

happy birthday, wally.

Happy Birthday to you, Wally.

May you and your motorcycle rest in peace.

Amen to that.

And he shares a birthday with the State of Oregon, which this year is 142. Happy birthday from all us Beaver State folks, Wally

“Death cannot stop true love. It can only delay it for a while.” --Westley, “The Princess Bride”

Thanks, Coldfire, for remembering Good Love.

Happy Birthday, Wally! I hear the sweet hum (and-no shit-a motorcycle just roared by my house now…Hoo!) of your beautiful motorsicle. Y-R-Waaaayyyy-2-Cool

I Miss Ya, Wally.

Happy belated birthday, Wally. I was still lurking when you were here, but I wish like hell I’d had the chance to get to know you. You’re still here in our hearts.

It’s odd isn’t it, that someone like me who never interacted with Wally should miss him.
I’m sorry I never got to know you, Wally. Happy Birthday.
