Well, I don’t know how the hell you parse that from my statement.
I work for a US automaker, yet I do not fully support a government bailout of the auto industry. I think the jobs bank created by the UAW that has autoworkers getting paid to do absolutely nothing is a crock of shit. So no, my intention was not to suggest that every job should be kept. Sometimes companies need to slim down or restructure. Complete failure means losing all of the jobs, not just a few. My outrage is over the glee. Maybe if you read for comprehension you would see that we do agree on something. I have no beef with you personally. You seem to be taking a different tack to the thread than others in it have, as your’s seems to be a more practical viewpoint rather than a fun and games one.
I suppose I did take a different angle, I have no problem with you or Really Not All That Bright either.
Here at work, we have Fox “News” running all day. It’s in my face all the time, and to be honest, gets me riled up when it shouldn’t on certain topics, like these.
Can I mention some state governments, like California or Illinois?
No, I’m not totally serious. Yeah, there’s a part of me that would love to see it, but there’s a bigger part of me that would feel bad for all the people who get hurt. Even the guilty ones.
I’m not personally unaffected, as my last day of work at my present place of employment will be no later than February 27th. They’re shutting the whole thing down.
I reserve the right to be an insensitive prick anyway. My target would be the website tie-in collectible toy industry, largely because whenever my daughter goes out of town I get stuck caring for the Bella Sara horses and the Webkinz and the BeBratz and whatever those other things are called… there are some things middle aged man was not meant to know, and how to brush the teeth of a virtual poodle is probably one of them.
I’m not “rooting for” any business to go under. The reason is, the “captains of industry” (the real big shots) will not be hurt at all. they already have stock options, golden handshakes, golden parachutes, bonuses, etc etc etc all lined up - whether they were any good, or were the CAUSE of a company’s downfall.
It’s the rank and file that will get the axe and be on the skids - the very people who don’t deserve it.
I know it is not private industry, but isn’t it time County Government bit the dust? Its functions are duplicated by the state, and it has no reason to exist any more. Here’s a great idea-privatize the court system. then you could get things settled quickly, with no inefficient rescheduling, changes of venue, blah blah blah.,
How come JIFFYLUBE isn’t dead yet? You should only go to them if you want grease wiped on your carpets and steering wheel, wrong grades of oil put in, and your drain plug secured with 1000 foot pounds of torque!
And considering I haven’t had power since fucking Thursday night, I’d like to see National Grid go down in flames, too. For the poor poor employees (I employ sarcasm but I would like to see this) I’d like to see smaller power companies show up, so I could price bid, and get a better price, and have some leverage with my bill, instead of a practical mmonopoly.
I detest Circuit City and hold a grudge against Rite Aid - but I have stock in Rite Aid, so I have to hope that they don’t go belly up (but I am expecting them to.)
All of them: health, auto, homeowners, all of them are parasites who exist only to suck the lifeblood out of families, then construe the terms of the policy to deny benefits whenever they can get away with it.
And yes, I have insurance, which I defraud whenever I think I can get away with it. Fair is fair.
Wow. You are fucking clueless or patronizing a terrible take-n-bake place then. I’ve used Papa Murphies in 3 different states and they are always SUBSTANTIALLY cheaper than ANYTHING you can get from any other chain and tastes WAY better.
I’m assuming you are talking about a place other than Papa Murphies. You must be because they are so fucking much cheaper than any delivery place and taste so much better.
This “take and bake” pizza place idea makes little sense to me. You already have three options for pizza: delivery, where it’s freshly prepared and already cooked; frozen grocery pizza that can be prepared in 20 to 30 minutes; and making homemade pizza, a process that can take anywhere from an hour to all day, depending mainly on the crust (pre-baked vs. frozen dough vs. yeastless dough vs. dough with yeast). All of these are either cheaper or more efficient than paying near delivery charges for pizza that you will still have to heat up. Am I missing something?
They keep you from having to grocery shop while providing you with a fresh pizza at a fairly reasonable cost (Papa Murphys). I like to make homemade pizza from scratch, but quite honestly, by the time I invest in all the ingrediants, I can go to Papa Murphy’s cheaper.
Delivery is easier yet. But for the same pizza, more expensive.
And frozen is really cheap, but generally only worth in when you need to pull something out of the freezer and into the oven right now. Good frozen pizzas aren’t bad - but you can get a take and bake for about the same money.
Actually, I’m gluten intolerant. My standards for pizza now are “I miss it - except the cheap frozen kind - that I don’t miss at all.” The frozen pizza I miss most is the California Pizza Kitchen’s Thai Pizza…but somehow, Totino’s ain’t making the list of foods I miss…
(Real deep dish pizza from a real pizza place - miss that…turns out the greasy “lots of cheese on very little crust” pizza with sausage and mushrooms and onions - the crust was just there as a delivery mechanism and to soak up some grease - you can slide the pizza right off the crust and not miss it at all - as long as you have a fork.)
