I started training as a Labor and Delivery RN in our high-risk unit in August and although I’m not on my own yet, I’m getting pretty independent. I was getting ready to do a check on my laboring patient so I had one glove on and then SURPRISE! Lots of black hair, then a face and I reach for the call light and send dad sprinting to the nurse’s station while I catch and place baby girl on mom’s tummy.
I want to deliver babies forever.
How many people can say they personally delivered a child?
I’d be so proud of myself but I’m just so awestruck by it.
Wow, how cool! Sounds like fun, but a bit messy for me… congrats!
Grats Cyn! It’s a neat feeling. I’ve done it for two of my four little rugrats. I caught my son a little over two years ago and my youngest daughter about five months ago. Welcome to the club!
Enjoy,
Steven
Very cool, Cyn.
I’m glad that after you caught it, you didn’t spike it and do the touchdown dance.
[sub]which would have been my first reaction…[/sub]
awesome!
did they name the baby after you?
I’ve caught two babies, both my own. There is something so absolutly awsome about it. I wish I was an OB or something.
Now I just have to toss my kids in ther air to catch them.
I’m still caught up with delivering that little girl. The family named her Anjelica Brianne, not Cyn, but oh, well. Maybe the next one!
Drachillix mentioned my doing a victory dance, so I did it in Von’s…better late than never!
Oh! I thought this was going to be about catching a baby from your SO or spoose–kinda like catching a cold. nevermind
Yeah, I must admit I clicked because I couldn’t figure out the situation from the thread title.
Me too. The only baby I ever caught was one I chased down before he fell over a cliff on four-tree island…his mommy thanked me profusely. One-year-olds can run quick!
Congratulations, Cyn… Sounds like an amazing experience. Maybe someday…
Did you catch her by the toe?
eenie
meenie
minie moe.
I was picturing Cyn peering out from under a bush, at a box trap baited with a teething ring.
I need to lay off the RoadRunner cartoons.
I pictured an unfortunate kid falling out a high rise window just as Cyn happened to be gesturing with outstretched arms underneath.
How exciting, Cyn!
I’ve never delivered a baby, but my husband has a couple of times…usually in the back of the ambulance in the Hardee’s parking lot or somewhere like that.
Quite an experience!
Best,
