In some circles," I could care less" is understood to be shorthand for “It is theoretically possible for me to care less, but the odds are really against it” (Put sarcasm and stress on the “could”, it makes more sense)
I agree with doc_miller on this one. I say “I could care less” and I include sarcasm.
Your way of saying it is automatically a lie, after all. The mere fact that you are saying anything means you could care less. You could care so little that you don’t even comment on how little you care.
