Picked up takeout from our favorite Chinese restaurant last night. It is a family run business, great people, fantastic food 98% of the time. The 2% bad food is when Mr Chef is out sick for some reason, and Uncle Sucks (not real names) fills in.

Last night was Uncle Suck’s cooking.:frowning:

The Hunan Tofu had overcooked, dry tofu and the sauce was lousy. The hot and sour soup (usually awesome) was bland. Worst of all, in the greasy fried rice I found this:

If it is a piece if hardware that fell off of a wok handle, I understand. But the “head” doesn’t look like a bolt/screw.

If it is a projectile used to kill what I was eating (House special fried rice with pork, chicken, and shrimp) that’s less cool.

It looks like a rivet to me. Do you suppose it’s aluminum?

Yeah, looks like a rivet of the type of quality you would expect from a cooking implement that was made in China.

Yup, just a rivet.

Most of your pots and pans probably have them too. They just don’t get used enough to fall off.

I’m just thrilled it wasn’t a deformed .22 g pellet used to kill a cat.

Rivet? Next time we feel like Chinese, we will call n for take out. Shit happens. And Uncle Sucks is a rare enough event.

My first thought was a pellet. Just to be sure, go old-timey and give it a bite. Lead/lead substitutes should deform with the pressure.

Be careful. It might start with some requests for good old bolt on hex nut action but eventually some sicko will ask you for unnatural pics of a screwdriver trying to screw a rivet into a threaded hole. It gets real weird fast.
