I despise you, winter light!

Note: I am no fan of heat. While I do prefer sun for as much of the day as possible, I prefer the temperature to be around 72 and breezy.

I love sun, I love hot weather, 85 F is perfect for me.

No, I don’t know why I’m living in Ireland either

Isn’t it a little early to gripe about winter? I mean, I know that Christmas displays have already gone up in the stores, but it’s still not even Halloween.

But in general, I do agree with the point. I hate winter. But I hate summer too. There’s a good stretch of a few weeks in the spring when the pollen hasn’t yet bloomed, and there’s a good stretch in the fall when all the pollen-bearing plants have died. We’re in that stretch right now. And soon the temps are going to be damn miserable around here. 2 or 3 years back, it got down to -38.

Stoid, I understand completely!
Today I had to turn the parking lot lights on at 5:30.
I also agree with everyone that goes to work in the dark, only to come home in the dark. I’ll settle for 12 hours of daylight.

What? A whole message board committed to the fighting of ignorance and no-one calls him on his thread title?

Days grow longer in winter.

Let’s hear it for winter, when the horrible process of night triumphing over day is miraculously reversed. The days diminishing down like that is terribly depressing. When they start to get longer again it calls for celebration. Some people call it “Christmas”.

Stoid, you should celebrate the onset of winter.

Perhaps in the traditional way: getting drunk and asking rich people for money.

Ah, see, that’s another thing I despise.

Christmas is just another day to me. No gifts, no cards, no special food. Just reruns and nuthin’s open.

My motto: Go ahead and have yourself a merry Christmas, just don’t drag me into it.

(If my kid self were here to read this, she’d have a fit)

Another winter lover. I feel bad for the people who really are affected by SAD, but in general I think people whine about winter because of some cultural expectation.

Winter is great, the lighting is wonderful, especially after a fresh snow fall, it smells better, damn, even the sounds are better – the squeak, squeak of fresh snow when it below minus 10, the muffling of sounds when it is actually snowing.

We had our first snowfall last week… I smiled all the way home (walking).

I am here, I am reading this and I am having a fit. Thanks, Mom.
